DWMonday ~ Eagle

I’ve been pinning eagle quilts on Pinterest lately. Here are a few that I love.

I borrowed this die from my Stitching Sisters group.

I just have to finalize my color choices and get to work! This die is available from Accuquilt. The studio version as well as all other studio dies are on sale through today for half off! You can use this link to find all the current Accuquilt sales.

Have a Happy Labor Day!

Finally!

I kept to my plan and finished hand quilting this small quilt last week. Now I’m working on binding. Many people commented on the one block that had a little bit of gold in it. That was my inspiration for the binding choice.

It isn’t exactly the same color, but I think I’m gonna like this.

Happy slow stitching day!

Another Finished QOV

Oops! I forgot to share this one! Here’s another QOV in the Standing Strong pattern. I quilted this one with a pantograph from Urban Elementz called Modern Twist.

Here’s a look at the back.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ More Quilts of Valor

The last of the QOVs from the Stitching Sisters group is done for this month. This beautiful sampler was pieced by Cheryl B. It is quite large and I had a hard time getting pictures!

This is the back.

This one was pieced by Val W. All that negative space just cried out for feathers!

Here is the back.

And a few detail shots.

Have a great day!

August/SeptemberGoals

It’s that time again! Here are the goals I set for myself for August:
1. Finish the little quilt that I am currently had quilting. Not done.

2. Finish my Shenandoah Stars quilt. Done!

3. Quilt some QOVs. Done! I quilted 6 this month.

I’ll show the others Friday.

4. Finish this top. Not done.

I had a couple other finishes as well. First the table runner from the Improv Stripes QAL.

And the QOV UFO.

Now to plan for September.

1. I’d like to get my batik rectangles top done and quilted.

2. Quilt any QOVs that come in.

3. Quilt my red log cabin quilt.

4. I really want to finish hand quilting the little indigo and white quilt shown above.

5. I want to finish my little Jeep Quilt.

Have a great day!

This and That Wednesday

It’s been a busy week, but I’m getting a bit done here and there. I have finished all the blocks for this quilt. I need to get them sewn together. These rectangles finish at 2 by 4 inches. These rectangle dies from Accuquilt are some of my very favorites.     Click here to get free shipping on Accuquilt products. ETA: I just find out all Studio dies are half off starting today and ending Monday with the coupon code STUDIODEALS.

I’ve been watching these two while Daughter #1 sleeps after her night shifts at the hospital. I like to walk to the library with them.

I recently listened to this audiobook. It was good, but sad.

I succumbed to the Craftsy sale last week. I may or may not have been influenced by a friend!

Mr. Wonderful bought this puzzle for me! We had a great time putting it together.

I have kept to working on this a bit every day since Sunday and now I have just one row left.

I’m watching my little boys again today. Hope you have a good one!

Fusible Appliqué

Remember this row by row kit I bought back in June? I finally got around to working on it.

It took me forever to cut all these little bits out!

I didn’t do a great job either. I changed the dog fabric to look more like my Pierre.

I still have to do the lettering on the sign, but everything else is fused in place.

Now comes the stitching part. Ugh…..I hope that part goes better than the first part. There are some VERY tiny bits here. Back to work!

Have a great day!

DWMonday ~ QOV Sampler

This beautiful sampler top was made by Stitching Sisters member, Cheryl B. It just seemed to call for a custom quilting job.

This top is huge! Here are some of the blocks.

And a peek at the border.

This one will be done soon and then on to the last for this month.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday ~ A Little Hand Quilting

I thought I’d share an update on my hand quilting progress. It should have been done by now. But there isn’t any deadline.

In this picture you can see that quilted vs. nonquilted parts. It’s hard to see the difference!

The back is where the quilting shows.

You can tell where the edges of the quilt top are by the basting lines. I used a couple different feedsacks for the back and one was quite yellow.

And a full shot of the top.

I find my hand often goes numb when hand quilting so that accounts for part of the slowness.  I hope to get two more fans quilted today. If I did two every day for a week, it would be done!

Have a great day!
