Finish It Up Friday ~ White on White

This quilt was an adventure I won’t soon forget! You can read about the beginnings of this quilt here. And some of the issues I had  here. I’m glad I persevered and finished. I did get sloppy toward the end. I was so over it!

I used two layers of Hobbs 80/20 batting on this little quilt. I’m not sure if you can tell, but I used a slightly darker cream fabric for the binding.

The top is Legacy unbleached muslin. It is the best quality muslin from JoAnns.

This next picture actually shows the back.

I’m pleased now that it is done, but this piece fought me every stitch of the way!

I also wanted to let you know that Accuquilt studio dies are half off right now! Here  is the link with all the details. Also the Studio die cutter is $200 off! That’s an awesome deal. I’m off to do a bit of shopping there myself!

Have a great day!

Mama said there’d be days like this…..

Harry’s home.

Sadly, I didn’t notice this until I got him back on the frame.

The needle should be in the center of the foot. I spent nearly $150 yesterday and ended up fixing this myself this morning. I have things to do and didn’t  want to take another whole day to take it back to the dealer. So annoying!

Finally back to quilting and realized my backing was too short. Ugh!

Fixed that and finished the quilting on this. It is far from perfect, I nearly threw it out when I realized the backing was too small. Time to bind. Sigh.

Have a good day.

October/November Goals

Time to look at what I’ve accomplished….or not! Here are the goals I listed for October.

1. I want to finish the vintage pyramid quilt that I have been hand quilting. Done!

2. Finish the Palmateer Point QAL quilt. Done!

3. The Jeep Quilt. Not done.

4. I’d like to work on getting these blocks together into a top. Not done.

What else did I do?

I made this baby quilt.

And I quilted these QOVs.

And I had a great trip to Arizona!

I have a lot of catching up to do in November.

1. Quilt, bind, and add a hanging sleeve to this quilt for a customer.

2. Finish this baby quilt.

3. Finish this little white on white quilt.

4. Finish any QOVs that come in.

5. Start work on a top secret customer quilt.

That’s all I’m going to commit to for now!

Have a good one!

This and That Tuesday

I found this little tin of squares when playing with my four patches.

I had cut them with this die from Accuquilt.

So I decided to put the 4 patches away until I’ve made some more.

I spent a good chunk of the day yesterday taking Harry in for his checkup and retiming appointment.

Since my dealer is a couple hours away, I waited for the service to be completed and drove home after. I did a little shopping at Tuesday Morning while I waited and found these goodies.

I also stopped at a quilt shop and picked up a new thimble.

I tried it out, but I’m still getting used to it.

I can’t believe I forgot to show you these lovely fabrics that I received as a gift from my friend, Donna!

I just love these!

Hopefully I can get some serious sewing in today.

Take care!

IDWMonday

We had a wonderful, but very busy weekend. By last night, I was itching to play a little. So I grabbed this little container of random 4 patches.

These will finish at 2 inches.

Here is one option.

And another.

But I will probably play a little more before sewing them together. Or maybe they’ll just get put back in the tin. Either way, it’s nice to have little bits like this laying around!

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday~ Vintage Broken Dishes

I’m ready to start my next hand quilting project. I have this vintage crib quilt top back together and basted for hand quilting. I found a package of Mountain Mist Blue Ribbon batting in my stash. I’m not sure they make this anymore. It is 100% cotton with no resins or needle punching to hold it together. That means close quilting is a must.

This is what theback looks after basting. I like to use plain old fashioned muslin for backing these vintage pieces.

Now to figure out how to quilt it. I don’t like marking these old tops so whatever I do, it will be freehand.

Have a great day!

Random Saturday

Fall is most definitely here! I figured it was about time I got out this fall quilt.

I also wanted to let you know that Accuquilt has some awesome sales through the end of October. I used my dies to make that little quilt above.

We went to the pumpkin farm last weekend with Daughter #1, SIL #1, and the Es.

Big E rode a horse for the first time. He did so well!

The trees in my yard are so beautiful right now!

#1 Son sent me this sweet pic f my AZ boys. I miss them already!

Daughter #3 is home with her hubby this weekend. So excited to spend time with them!

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Vintage Pyramids

I’m so excited to share this finish with you today! I purchased this vintage top on eBay quite a few years ago and I so enjoyed hand quilting it over the last couple months.

Here’s a look at the back.

I don’t like to mark quilting lines on these vintage tops so everything is freehand…..and wonky.

Plain unbleached muslin is my backing of choice for vintage tops. You can see that this top had some fading, but I still love it.

I found a piece of vintage burgundy fabric in my stash that was a near perfect match for the binding.

Now I’m off to find the perfect place to display this quilt. Have a great day!

The Best Laid Plans….

Well, I finally have this little top together.

And I even have the backing fabric ready.

But it is on hold now because I loaded this up and started quilting it first.

And before I got very far at all, I hit a ruler and knocked the timing out. So Harry and I have an appointment on Monday for a spa day. He was due for a check up anyway.

Sigh…..

Hope your day is better!

If you give a mouse a cookie….

….he’s going to want a glass of milk….. That’s how the children’s book goes. The moral is that one thing leads to another. That’s exactly how this project got started!

After I basted a small quilt on the longarm, I had leftover backing. So I decided to use it to practice some machine quilting.

I pulled out a piece of muslin and pressed it to find the center.

Then I thought this would be a good time to work with some of my long arm rulers.

I started marking some things and decided I should make a small whole cloth quilt.

I’m marking way more than I should, but I’m also designing as I go.

So much for a quick practice.

Have a great day!
