Slow Stitching Sunday ~ Vintage Broken Dishes

Good thing this quilt is small as the quilting has been slow going.

Here is a look at the back.

This doesn’t technically have a deadline, but my hand stitching time is about to become severely limited.

Remember these two adorable grand dogs?

Daughter #2 is bringing them to Michigan for an extended stay! I can’t wait to see them. But I know I won’t be doing any handwork with doggies on my lap! My carpal tunnel will thank them!

Have a great day!

The Christmas Feud

Long time readers may remember this sorry quilt. If you want the back story, you can find it here.  It’s a sad looking quilt and hung in my bathroom every Christmas for many years. Last year, I gave it to Daughter #3 when she told me how much she loved it.

The other night she sent me this photo of it proudly hanging in her living room. Yes, she is already decorating for Christmas! She also sent this to her sister, Daughter #1.

A few minutes later, I received this text from Daughter #1.

So, I went to JoAnns and picked up these.

Time to make another bathroom quilt!

Have a great day!

Veteran’s Day 2017

Today is Daughter #2’s first official Veteran’s Day. She finished six years of active duty with the USAF back in May.

I couldn’t be more proud of her.

So very thankful for her service and sacrifice as well as that of all her brothers and sisters in arms.

We are a blessed nation indeed to have men and women like this willing to put their lives on the line for the rest of us.

Finish It Up Friday ~ Kewpie Quilt

I finished this little girl quilt up this week. I might just save this for a Valentine baby!

I kept the quilting simple, just loops with a heart thrown in now and again.

Here’s the back.

This fabric is cute, but I didn’t want any left over, so I used it for the binding as well.

I need to keep going on these baby quilts, I heard about two more pregnant ladies in the last week!

Have a great weekend!

Kewpie Quilt

The kewpie quilt is on the frame.

I decided to keep the quilting simple. I’m just freehanding loops and throwing a heart in every now and again.

Hopefully I’ll get the binding on today.

Have a great day!

Project Prep

My plan today is to get some serious sewing and project prep done.  That means I’ll be using my  Accuquilt Studio Cutter . Yesterday, I cut out everything I need for a lap quilt in about ten minutes using my cutter and dies.

Here I have 8 1/2 inch squares, 2 1/2 by 8 1/2 inch strips, and 2 1/2 inch squares. This top will go together in a big hurry  now.

I also plan to cut out pieces for a Christmas quilt using these fabrics.

It will take me longer to decide on a pattern than to cut out the quilt!

I mentioned a few days ago that Accuquilt was running a fabulous sale on cutters and dies. They have extended the sale through midnight tonight! And if you click here you can get  free shipping as well.

Free patterns can be found here.

Have a great day!

More Snowballs!

I pieced the rest of my snowball blocks and put them up on the design wall.

I thought  I could add a panel for interest and to make the top bigger. I love this panel sent to me by blog reader, Ila.

I love this! But I kind of wanted to make this into a QOV so I looked for anther and found this one from Barb at Fun With Barb

This panel has the Declaration of Independence on it. The fabric on the right will be the border. Hmmmm… I think I like this!

Have a great day!

DWMonday ~ Snowball

I bought this die a while back and I just love it!

I used it to cut these out.

I finally got around to sewing some blocks.

The accuracy of piecing after cutting the  pieces with the die is amazing. I don’t think this is available as a studio die, but it can be used on the studio cutter with an adapter.

Today is the last day for the 50% off Studio dies and $200 off the Studio Cutter at Accuquilt. These are amazing deals.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching

I haven’t knit any mittens in quite a while, but I’m feeling motivated to knit some again after receiving these photos last night.

I made these for Daughter #3 and my new  SIL a couple years ago. They were wearing them to keep warm at the U of M football game. It is such a wonderful feeling to know that people appreciate and use the things you make for them. Here’s a recent photo of the newlyweds.

Aren’t they adorable? I think I need to make some mittens  for my grandsons now. Time to dig out those needles!

Have a great day!

Jackpot!

I went to an estate sale yesterday that had a Singer Featherweight advertised. It was more than I would pay ($800). While looking around, I came across several bins of fabric marked $25 each. I looked in the bins, but the stuff on top wasn’t too precious. As I got near the bottom, I changed my mind! I bought this one bin.

I left about half the stuff in it there for someone else. These are the treasuresI came away with. These are FQs on top and one yard pieces underneath.

A pile of neutrals.

Yardage!

34 FQs in Christmas colors.

And the best of all, 56 half yard pieces of an early repro line by Benartex called Documentaries!

Over 50 yards of quilt shop quality fabric! Woo hoo!

Hope you find some treasures today!
