Finish It Up Friday ~ The Wedding Quilt

Beware of picture over load! This quilt is done and gifted so now I can share.

And to quote our friends from across the pond, I’m chuffed to bits with it!

I was able to gift it to the happy couple after the rehearsal dinner.

And here they are after the wedding. My niece is so beautiful! I just love her.

Have a wonderful day!

Treasures!

Whenever we travel, Mr. Wonderful and I always try to hit up a few antique and thrift shops. We did just that while traveling to and from my niece’s wedding last weekend. I was so excited to find this top for only $20!

It actually has 20 blocks, I have one side folded back. I’ve seen this pattern being so,d lately as “new.” But truly, there is nothing new under the sun.

I found this top at Good Will. It was too nice to leave behind!

The machine appliqué was so nicely done.

I also found this two yard bit.

And four yards of the flannel.

I love finding quilty treasures. Have a great day!

Cutting Another Baby Quilt

I cut out another baby quilt. This time, I started with this charm pack. Such a cute fabric line!

I also used this gold print that I had in my stash.

I began by cutting 5 inch wide strips out of this white solid.

Then I used this die to sub cut.

That was quick!

And this is all the waste I had.

I used this die to cut squares from the gold print.

I didn’t need to cut the charm squares at all. I even got the binding cut already!

Here is a peek at the layout I plan to use.

I love my Accuquilt die cutter. I’m certain that my carpal tunnel issues would be even worse if I had not been using this for the last several years. I’m very excited to let you know that Accuquilt released ten new dies for the studio cutter this past week! I have a couple on my wish list! Click here to see all the current deals from Accuquilt.

Have a great day!

French General

I wanted to finish this up for a donation quilt.

I added narrow side borders and wider borders at the top and bottom. I used some French General fabrics I had on hand.

This is the pantograph I’m using.

It might be a bit too busy with these fabrics!

Have a great day!

DWMonday ~ Tumbler Baby Quilt

My supply of baby quilts is down to one! So I decided to start cutting another out. I used this die from Accuquilt .

I cut 50 tumblers from prints and 50 from a solid white.

Here is my layout.

After that was decided, I stacked up my rows and pinned them together. Now it’s all ready to go when I have some time to piece.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching

I basted my little quilt on Friday.

I wanted to use this feed sack for the back, but it had obvious damage.

So I cut out the damaged part and sewed it back together.

I love the way the quilting looks on it!

I used a silver marking pencil to mark the Baptist Fans. I’m using smaller fans this time. But I am adding an additional arc between each of the marked arcs.

I should be able to get much of the quilting done while traveling.

Have a great day!

Proud Mama Moment

This is Daughter #3. She is very environmentally conscious. She wanted some muslin bags for produce because those plastic bags in the produce department are not reusable and they are not healthy storage for fruits and veggies. Instead of buying them, she pulled out her vintage Singer 99k and made some.

She even made a great tutorial that she posted on Instagram.

Aren’t these great?

She’s so smart! I’m so proud!

Haves great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Jelly Roll Baby Quilt

This baby quilt is done and it has already found a new home! It is really quite simple, but I love the light to dark effect.

I used left over strips for the binding.

I love this backing fabric. I picked it up at JoAnns.

If you look closely at the quilting, it is far from perfect. And yet, the overall effect is kind of cool. I think the imperfections will be even harder to see after it is washed.

Have a great day!

Thankful

I’ve been so blessed by my blog readers! I’ve had people send me scraps and fabric to help out with projects, supplies and even money to help with Quilts of Valor, and most recently, quilts!

Jan is downsizing and needed to find a new home for these two lovely quilts so she sent them to me!

Look at these tiny pieces!

Jan also sent these sweet potholders made by her mother. I put them on the dresser in my guest room.

I have met the most wonderful people through blogging. Thank you, Jan for thinking of me!

A Little Bit Crazy

I shared this little find last week. I tried to ignore it as I had too much to do already, but it wouldn’t leave me alone!

It was foundation pieced all by machine. Here is a look at the back.

I added a feed sack backing and machine quilted it in a freehand grid. I did not put any batting in it. And here it is!

This is a closeup. Since all the stitching had been done by machine, machine quilting seemed the right answer here.

Here is the back. I used a vintage fabric for the binding.

When I was all done, I gently washed it in the sink with a couple drops of Dawn dish washing liquid and dried it in the dryer. Here are after washing pics.

It crinkled up just the tiniest bit. It fits my little doll bed perfectly! I just adore this little quilt!

I’m so glad I finished this. I wonder about the maker though. If only this little piece could talk!

Have a great day!
