Tiny Yo-yos

I made this little yo-yo quilt quite a few years ago.

I used this little yo-yo maker from Clover.

I thought it would fit one of the beds in my doll house, but it was too big so I decided to make another. I was pretty excited to find that I already had this string of yo-yos ready to go.

I needed ten more so I quickly cut these squares to make a few more.

I used this die from Accuquilt to cut them.

I’ll show how this works in another post. Have a good one!

August/September Goals

Here are the goals I set for August:

1. Quilt 5 QOVs. Done!

2. Finish the bow tie quilt. Done!

3. Make a couple more dollhouse quilts. Done!

4. Tackle at least one more UFO. Not done.

5. Get caught up on my string blocks. Not done.

6. Make a QOV. Not done.

What else did I finish?

One doll bed quilt.

Eh, not so great. In my defense, I have had several trips this month and I’m currently out of the state.

Onto September.

1. Quilt fiveQOVs.

2. String blocks.

3. One UFO

4. Two baby quilts.

Wish me luck!

Ladies Offroad Network

Last weekend I was able to attend another trail training event put on by the Ladies Offroad Network. This is Frankie, we get to practice wrenching on him.

Charlene Bower founded the organization and she is a fantastic teacher.

Jeeperz Creeperz in Detroit hosted us in their shop.

Lots of great rigs and great ladies were there!

It was such a fun day and I learned so much.

Have a good one!

Dollhouse Chronicles ~ Another Tiny Quilt

I made another little log cabin quilt to hang on my tiny quilt rack.

Again, I used graph paper to create a paper foundation. The logs of my log cabin are 1/4 inch wide.

It sure looks a mess before it is trimmed!

I didn’t add batting or any quilting.

I pressed a fold where it would hang over the rack and tacked it in place with a few hidden stitches.

I think I need to make another for the other side. It’s so tiny and lightweight that it needs a counterbalance.

Have a great day!

QOV #34

Here is the last Quilt of Valor for this month. The top was pieced by Becca.

Here’s a look at the back.

This is the panto I used. It is available from Urban Elementz .

It reminds me of the trees you learn to draw in kindergarten. Have a great day!

About Those Leaders/Enders…

Remember these? This is just a fraction of the 2 inch four patches I’ve made as leader/enders.

I need more for the quilt I have in mind, but I decided to spend some time cutting some other pieces for this quilt. I used this Accuquilt die. With this, I can cut120 squares at one time.

I will need more, but there is over 700 here to get me started.

Of course I had to piece a block to see how it would look!

I will need 36 of these 16 inch blocks to make the quilt I want. I love huge quilts made from tiny pieces.

I also wanted to say thank you for all your sweet comments on my son’s Lego quilt shop! I’ve passed along your kind words. I’ve been doing some traveling of late with more to come so I apologize for not responding to all of your comments.

Have a great day!

A New Quilt Shop!

I decided to open a quilt shop and thought you might like to check it out….

Look at all that beautiful thread!

Nice FQ displays as well.

The up stairs has a bed for displaying quilts (or taking a nap).

And another vintage machine for me to use. See that I even have my coffee close at hand?

Here is the back of the building. I have lots of natural light in my studio.

Okay, so it isn’t a real shop….but this beauty was built by my son. He is an AFOL (adult fan of Lego). Yes, there are millions of adults that are into Legos.

He is building an entire town. Smart son that he is, he knows no town is complete without a quilt shop. If you would like to see more, there is a video here.

Have a great day!

Rope Baskets

You may remember a while back when I made a rope basket.

Since it was claimed by Daughter #3, I decided to make another. I practiced on a small length and made this coaster.

Then I decided to try an oval basket. I just using cotton clothesline rope and a zig zag stitch.

Ran out of rope!

It does get a bit awkward as it grows.

I wrapped the ends in a big of muslin when I needed to join another piece.

Ran out of rope again.

I’m not sure how this will end up. Stay tuned!

Going Home

I mentioned that Winslow and I went home to visit my mom this past week. Here are a few pics from our trip. She was such a good little traveler.

We saw the Google Maps car!

Crossing the Mackinaw Bridge is always a milestone.

Lake Zmichigan is beautiful M

Winslow dressed up while we were there.

She loves my mom. And the dog park!

Making friends.

The sun rising as we headed home.

We had to stop for the turkeys to cross the road.

Foggy!

It was cool to see the fog as it lifted.

Until next time!
