Finish It Up Friday ~ Vintage Stars

I totally changed my mind on quilting this and decided on a light custom job.

And it was really fun to quilt! I think I got into a panto rut and it was fun to break out of that.

This plain muslin backing came with the top and I went ahead and used it. I love how well the quilting shows.

Binding came from my stash.

It feels good to finally have a finish. Have a great day!

EPP Progress

I got all of two of these pieced on my trip to AZ. Added to the three I made while traveling to Iceland gives me grand total of five.

I’m just cruising along on this project ( cough, cough).

I have more basted so we shall see if I can make any more progress this week. Have a good one!

Another Quilty Treasure!

This is another quilty treasure from Arizona.

I found this at the same antique mall as the little quilt I shared on Monday. This vintage top came with a poly batting zigzagged to the top and no backing of quilting.

I removed that before I left to make more room in my suitcase.

This top is entirely handpieced and I find its imperfections quite charming.

I love all the feed sack fabrics!

This is a good candidate for hand quilting this winter. Have a great day!

Six Pointed Stars

Remember when I picked up this top and was considering replacing the cornerstones? I got some great ideas from all of you, but Kathy D. left a comment that really made sense. She asked what the end goal was for this quilt. If I was going to donate it some place, perhaps it wasn’t worth the time and effort to replace them.

That clicked with me. It will be donated to Quilts of Compassion . So it’s time to get this baby quilted!

I’m deciding amongst the following pantos.

Two weeks ago we headed out to Arizona and just got back, so this should be a good project to ease back into sewing.

Have a great day!

A Little Quilt

I went to an antique mall with my son last week. I saw this little quilt and had to bring it home.

It’s a child sized quilt and tied without any batting. That makes sense for Arizona. The fabrics are charming!

It is all hand pieced. I’m not usually a fan of tied quilts. I’m thinking about taking it apart and hand quilting it.

Have a great day!

EPP

I started these on the way to Iceland.

I’m not good at English Paper Piecing.

After Winslow tried to eat my pieces, I put it away. With lots of traveling this month, I decided to pull it out again.

We shall see how far I get this time! Have a great day!

Dollhouse Chronicles

No work on the dollhouse has happened this week, but I have the next one all lined up!

Daughter #3 found this one for free on Facebook Marketplace in her area and picked it up for me. It is very heavy and clearly home made.

My plan is to turn this into a mid century modern ranch.

All I know for sure at this point is that I need to learn to make some tiny breeze block.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Tiny Yo-yos

This turned out to be a pretty quick finish since I found so many yo-yos already done.

I forgot to hold the yo-yos right sides together when I whip stitched them together. 🙄

But it turned out good enough for the dollhouse.

Have a great day!

TBThursday

A few more favorites from days gone by, these are all minis and they are all made from vintage fabrics.

I hope you enjoyed looking back at these little bits! Have a great day!

Yo-yos Part 2

This is the tool I used to make my yo-yos.

It comes apart into two pieces.

Lay the fabric on top of the outer piece.

It is held in p,ace by the disc.

I trim the corners off.

Then stitch through the openings in the back. They look like little smiles.

Once you’ve gone all the way around, remove the discs and pull on the thread.

Ta da!

Have a great day!
