Slow Stitching Sunday ~ Vintage Stars

I changed my mind. I had planned to hand quilt this, but as I was loading it on the long arm for basting, I decided to machine quilt instead. I realized hand quilting through those layers of applique was not going to be fun and would likely take forever.

So today, I will be slow stitching, but it will be binding rather than quilting.

Have. Great day!

About katyquilts

I am a wife, mom of four amazing kids, and a librarian. I have been making traditional quilts for ages but have ventured into art qulting in the last several years. I also love to knit socks and mittens and dye my own fabric. I am thankful to God my Father and Creator for the gift of creativity!

When you baste a quilt for hand quilting, how far apart are your stitches and how big are your stitches? I am working on my first hand quilted quilt and I took it to a longarm to get basted. I wasn’t really sure what to ask her for. We ended up deciding on 2″ stitches about 4.5″ apart. Thank you.

  4. Good choice! Enjoy binding.
