If you give a mouse a cookie….

You know the old story. I had these tumblers on my UFO list.

I figured if I cut a few more and some background, I’d have a quick baby quilt.

I have what I need for that now. But I also have these left over.

Another UFO….

Also I wanted to let you know about some great deals on die cutters from Accuquilt .

I used my Accuquilt tumbler die to cut the pieces for this quilt. It’s one of my favorites.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I’m excited to be making progress on this old UFO!

The hand stitching has been very relaxing. This is where I was when I picked this back up.

And where I am now.

I still have a long way to go, but it feels great to be progressing!

Have a great day!

Coming Home

We’ve enjoyed an amazing 10 days in Arizona, but today we fly home. I so love the desert and enjoyed some time with Daughter #2 at my fave place, the White Tank Mountains.

Have a great day!

February/March Goals

Time to see how I did on my goals!

1. I need to make a baby girl quilt. I already have the perfect fabric in my stash for it. Done!

2. Baste a quilt for hand quilting. Not done!

3. Finish my leader/ender quilt blocks. Done!

4. Quilt 5 QOVs. Done! Actually, I only had four to do.

5. Finish my Gather UFO. Done!

What else did I do?

I made this little doll quilt.

And I finished the baby quilt from my UFO list.

Time to look toward March.

1. Quilt five QOVs.

2. Finish my leader/ender quilt.

3. Come up with a plan for a wedding quilt.

4. Finish another item from my UFO list.

5. Start on a secret sewing project.

I sure hope the groundhog was right. I’m so sick of winter! Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Baby Hexie Quilt

Another UFO is off the list! I opted to leave the borders off this scrappy little quilt. I think it works.

After all this time, I still love these Denise Schmidt prints.

This will be donated to our local Habitat for Humanity Quilt Auction.

This pantograph was given to me by a friend. I love it.

It’s that time of year when I have a hard time finding a place to photograph quilts. The weather is yucky.

Feels good to finish another UFO. Have a great day!

TBThursday

Perhaps I am longing for spring, but my mind is returning to these bright quilts today.

I hope this look back brightened your day a bit. Have a good one!

Leader/Ender Update

My bins of pieces and parts for this quilt are getting empty!

This next photo shows 9 blocks. I now have 25 pieced.

I need to make just a couple more half blocks yet. Then I will add a narrow border so this will end up around 100 inches square.

I should be able to finish this one in March! Have a great day!

Another Vintage Top

Remember when hubby and I went to antique shops on New Years? I passed on this quilt top. But since February is my birth month, I went back and got it for myself.

Do you ever buy gifts for yourself? This top is so nicely done and I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

Many pieces are pieces like this.

I just love all these fun fabrics!

As you can see, this one is pretty big. I may add a narrow solid border yet.

And thanks to the kindness of a blog reader, Ila, I have the perfect backing for it!

isn’t this perfect? She is so kind! I’ll enjoy looking at all these fabrics while finishing this one.

Have a great day!

Quilting Gather

I always get questions on cross hatch quilting on my long arm, so I thought I’d share how I do this.

First of all, I have a couple of these “rings” that fit over the wheels on the carriage of my machine. They prevent the head from moving front to back so I can quilt a perfectly straight line from side to side.

I load up my quilt and start making lines from side to side. I wanted my lines to be about 3/4 inch apart. So I set my stitch regulator to 12 stitches per inch.

At the end of each row, I gently pulled the machine forward for 9 stitches. Even with the rings on the carriage, you can still force it to move by pulling firmly on the machine. After advancing for 9 stitches, the equivalent of 3/4 of an inch, I start sewing another line.

After I’ve done all the lines in one direction, I take the quilt off the frame and reload it. Then I follow the same process to create the crossing lines. By the way, I used Superior Mono Poly thread in the top and Magnaglide Classic in cream in the bobbin.

I love seeing the difference in a top before and after quilting!

What a difference! Have a great day!

Hand Piecing Project

Here is another project from my UFO list. Since I have a trip this month, I figured it was a good time to work on this.

I have two more rows ready to add and then a bunch more pieces.

I’ll leave the big part at home and work on putting those rows together and then adding in to that.

We shall see how far I get! Have a great day!
