May Goals Revisited, Looking Ahead to June

Here is my list of goals for May and the results:

1. Finish the Album block quilt. DONE! YAY!!!!!

IMG_7933

2. The Small Quilt Talk May challenge quilt. Not done. Started it but messed up and never got back to it.

3. Finish this small crib quilt:

Done!

4. I would also like to finish my DS Hexie quilt. Not done. Not even close. 😦

Other things I accomplished this month:

I quilted 9 quilts for Quilts Beyond Borders and bound 8 of them. A tenth is being sent back unfinished. When the flood came, all quilting came to a halt.

I made a mug rug.

20140522-222608.jpg

I started and finished the 42 churn dash blocks.

20140523-212250.jpg

I finished the labyrinth quilt.

20140501-210308.jpg

Not bad considering the basement flooded on May 15th and not much sewing has happened since.

For June I have just one goal, to get my sewing room back together.

Perhaps I should break this down a bit into manageable bites….

1. Finish painting.

2. Redo the closet organizer.

3. Flooring.

4. Trim.

5. Figure out a floor plan.

6. Replace furniture.

7. Set up long arm.

8. Sort fabric.

9. Sort supplies.

This is a daunting list. Help!

UFOs and Painting

I’ve been picking a bit through the bits from the sewing room that I can get to looking for little projects to finish. I found this one:

20140531-082216.jpg
This is at least 5 years old. I would like to add borders but can’t find anything suitable in the mess. These hexies are about 2″ across. They are all from my tiny, precious Liberty of London stash purchased when we lived in Europe. Finding this is the only sewing related news to report.

However, more than half the painting is done in the new sewing room and the floor in the office is finished. On to the base boards!

Now I am off to the library for work.

Have a beautiful day!

Working, working, working…

And a wee bit of sewing:

Still not sure how they will go together.

Also started painting, the new paint is on the right.

Now back to work! Have a great weekend.

Dreaming…

It’s what I have to do to keep motivated on this project!

20140529-083731.jpg
I’ve been scouring Pinterest for ideas. I really like this work table:

We are getting closer on the office floor but that closet won’t be fun.

This is what I will start on after work today:

All the while, I will be mulling over this:

Work in Progress Wednesday

I found a few more Kaffe scraps, uncovered my die cutter, and cut a few more HSTs to match the ones I have been working on.

20140528-073031.jpg
Because I die cut these, no trimming will be required. Yay!

I got off work at 9 last night but that wasn’t too late to work on the office floor.

20140528-073203.jpg
We are about 3/4s of the way done and then there is the closet. I may start painting in the sewing room tomorrow. When the office is complete, then we can move stuff in and out of the way to work on the sewing room floor.

Mr. Wonderful bought me these:

Living up to his name! LOL!

I would like to start painting before work today but there is housework to be done. Darn laundry and dishes keep piling up!

Little by Little

That’s how a quilt is made or a basement remodeled. I finished trimming triangles.

20140526-223324.jpg

20140526-223334.jpg
I ended up with about 180 of them. They are cut to 2″ so they will finish at 1 1/2″.

Lots of filling of holes, cleaning and putting up new drywall happened in the basement this weekend. There is a lot more to go. We also purchased our flooring and started putting it down in the office last night.

20140526-223603.jpg
We chose vinyl planks. If the basement should ever flood again (the horror!), we can take up the planks, dry it out and put it back down. They click together. It sounds easier than it is! Yikes! It took FOREVER to get this little bit done!

Design Wall Monday

I am still trimming triangles but had enough done to play a bit with them.

They look so nice all trimmed up!

Still a few more to go though.

Even the trimmings are pretty.

Hunting for HSTs

I went looking for a box of HSTs I had cut to go with the 4 patches I was making, but they did not appear. I did find some bonus HSTs that were left over from this project though.

20140525-001749.jpg
They all needed pressing and trimming which is probably why I hadn’t done anything with them.

20140525-001846.jpg
They are all pressed now and the trimming has begun.

20140525-001922.jpg
They will finish at 1 1/2″. Not sure yet what they will become!

This week I listened to the audiobook of Killing Jesus by Bill O’Reilly. It was very interesting and I enjoyed getting a better understanding of the politics of the day. Now I am listening to this:

20140525-002620.jpg
So far, this is good as well. It is written by a doctor and shows some of the incredible situations faced by doctors in our hospitals every day.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Progress

I finished the last of the churn dash blocks yesterday.

20140523-212215.jpg
I have 42 blocks made.

20140523-212250.jpg
I can’t find the setting fabric I have to go with them so this project is now on hold for a bit.

I also started making these scrappy 4 patches as leaders and Enders when I was making the last batch if churn dashes.

20140523-212424.jpg
I have a container of 2 1/2″ squares that I am using to make these. I may just go ahead and empty the bin making more. What I work on these days is dictated by what I can find in the aftermath of the flood! I am very glad I was able to find a few containers of pre-cut pieces.

Here is a bit more progress. Some paint in the office:

20140523-212802.jpg
I sure would like to get that room back together this weekend.

Have a wonderful weekend!
