TBT ~ Quilts Around the House

I feel so much better this week! Thank you for all of your sweet comments! I hope to get back to responding soon. Now that I am home and feeling well, I keep thinking I should be going in to work! I didn’t really miss my job when I was in Arizona because I have never worked out there. But now that I’m home, it feels odd. Not that I am getting bored, mind you!

I’ve been wanting to do some rearranging in the bedrooms upstairs and this week, I got started. Rearranging also means switching out some quilts. Since I can’t share my current secret sewing project, I thought I would show you some of the quilts I have out and about right now.

The picture above shows one corner of my family room. The Generals of the Potomac have been keeping me company on the couch. Lol!

This little one is hanging in the powder room. It is straight, but it’s hard to get a straight shot in a tiny room!

I don’t think I ever shared this one that hangs over the doorway looking into the foyer. It is a Patrick Lose pattern .

We’ve been enjoying some amazing springlike weather here in Michigan this week and I even had my windows open while working around the house! This put me in the mood for some springy quilts on my bed.

We have three other bedrooms upstairs. This one hasn’t changed much.

But it will soon get a second twin bed to match the one already in there. I need room for my grand babies! The other two rooms got flip flopped this week. I moved the crib into what was the guest room and put the queen bed into the bigger bedroom. I like the yellow walls for my visiting babies.

The green door pictured below is actually what I use as a headboard for the queen bed.

I want to repaint this room before I hang it. Here is the bed.

Yep, that quilt isn’t working there right now. I’ve got something in the works though. Here is the dolly bed I have in there. I’m really liking the 1930s quilts in here.

Time to get back to work….around the house that is!

Play Time

I finally took a little time to play around with some free motion work on the long arm.

I’m so out of practice. But this sure was fun! I’ve got a bit of secret sewing to do and I need to come up with a quilting plan for that. Better get busy!

WIP Tuesday ~ QOV

It feels good to be working on the long arm again! I want to do some free motion work, but I’m easing into things with a few pantographs.

DWM ~ Backings and Tops

This weekend I finally started feeling good enough to do a little mucking about in the sewing room. I got one Quilt of Valor quilted and bound. I will share that on Friday. Yesterday, I was looking at tops I made in AZ and started pulling backings for them. I think this QOV/backing combination will be the next on the frame.

I’m considering this print for the back of the grad quilt:

Scrappy Nce Rail will get a soft solid backing.

The reality that is currently setting in, is just how many bindings I have ahead of me! Yikes!

Gwennie Inspired Medallion QAL News

Remember this? It’s time to get back to work and finish it up! It’s going on display. Did you participate in the QAL? If so, your quilt could be on display as well at the First Friday Exhibit at Quilt Works. All the details can be found on Lori’s blog Humble Quilts.

My top currently measures about 74 inches square and I want to get it up to 96 to use on my bed. I also still want to add some appliqué to that center block. I best get going!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Coins QOV

Here is the second QOV from the Polka Dots and Paisleys jelly rolls. I’m going to miss that lovely wall for taking photos!

It is actually hanging sideways here.

I got some of my carefully planned rows mixed up. But finished is better than perfect!

Yesterday was another couch day. I sure hope to get some quilting done this weekend.

Home Again

I arrived home late Monday night. It is cold here! And I immediately caught a bad cold as well. I enjoyed a wonderful Valentine’s Day with Mr. Wonderful, but yesterday I spent most of the day on the couch nursing this cold. I did decide that this would be my first project now that I am home.

I got as far as choosing the backing and getting that loaded on the frame.

Maybe tomorrow I will feel like cutting the batting and finishing that job. Here is a look at the backing fabric.

The List

Remember last fall when I was kitting up projects for my time in Arizona? Well, that time is over as I am now back in the frigid state of Michigan.

I’ve been slowly working on this post as a record of my sewing progress while out there. So here is a list of the projects I brought with me and the progress I made on each. A few things on this list didn’t come with me, but were planned and finished here.
1. 30s Hourglass Top done, needs borders.

2. Annie’s QOV Progress is made, but the top is not done.

3. Log cabin. I finished all the blocks I could, but decided to cut and make a few more when I get home so this has moved ahead, but is still a WIP.

4. M&S jelly rolls Done! These became two QOV tops.

I’ll share the second one on Friday.
5. DS 36 patch Top done, needs borders.

6. DS Squares Top done, needs borders. These became this HST top.

7. Mimosa charms Top is made.

8. Scrappy rectangles Top is done.

9. Heather Baily QCR Bahahahaha! Should have left that at home!

10. Puzzle quilt. Top is done but I can’t show it.

11. Solid tumblers Top is done.

12. Red green yellow No progress.

13. Scrappy trips Top is done.

14. Log cabin diamonds Not started.

15. Granny square ~ I made these blocks with a jelly roll I purchased here.

16. Coffin DS Progress, not close to done.

17. C&S tumblers Not started

18. Blueberry Park half rectangles Top is done.

19. Blueberry Park mini fans Done.

20. American Jane baby Quilt. Top is done, borders needed.

21. Broken Dishes Top is done.

22. Quilters Madder Done.

23. Doe Top is done.

24. Let Freedom Ring QOV Top is done.

25. Gratitude mini Done. Agains, I didn’t bring this along, I made this from a mini charm pack I purchased here.

26. I had hubby bring this to me in December. I’m so glad to have this one closer to finished!

27. I started and finished the January Challenge for the Small Quilt Talk group.

28. Finished this mini for a fiend.

Well, I guess I can spend the rest of 2017 finishing these up!
