A Sweet Little Find

While on a recent antique jaunt with hubby, I found this lovely crib quilt top!

I love how the blocks are all very orderly on the left, but on the far right, things get a bit wonky!

This picture shows the block  pattern.

It is all hand pieced.

This area has issues, but the rest looks good, even though the fabric is rather thin.

I paid all of $9.00 for this small top. I think this is the perfect top for my next hand quilting project.

Have a great day!

Spring!

I think it’s finally safe to say that spring has arrived in Michigan!  I love this time of year! I wandered around the yard the other day to take a few pictures.

In the interest of full disclosure, I must say that all these lovely blooms are courtesy of Mr. Wonderful. I do NOT have a green thumb. But I sure enjoy all of his hard work.

The family will begin arriving for the wedding tomorrow morning. Yippeee!!! I have been a busy little beaver and have blog posts scheduled for the next couple weeks. So I will be here, but not exactly. I hope you enjoy the posts I have prepared.

Have a great day!

Finally Quilting

I’m so glad to finally be quilting this QOV.

I’m doing a lot of ruler/template work on this.

I decided to use my pattern boards to quilt the center panel with the eagle.

I just taped off where the panel borders were. It worked out quite well.

Have a great day!

 Borders and Cutting

This is what I have been up to in the sewing room.

First, I’ve been sewing borders. Yes, I ended up using that stripe in the QOV I’ve been working on.

I finally added borders to my Blueberry Park top.

And I finally got around to cutting more pieces for my log cabin blocks that I worked on in Arizona.

I feel like I haven’t pieced any blocks in ages and now these are ready to go if I have a few minutes here and there.

Have a great day!

April/May Goals

It has been a very busy month! May will likely be even busier with Daughter #3’s wedding and lots of family arriving for the festivities. It’s all so exciting!

But first, let’s see what I got done in April. Here are the goals I set.

1. I must piece and finish the QOV for presentation in May. Not done! Yikes!
2. I want to finish my Scrappy Rectangles quilt. Done!
3. Finish hand quilting my vintage top. Done!

What else did I do?

I quilted threes QOVs.

I’ll show the third one next week.
I finished this baby quilt.

I made a rope bowl.

I think setting goals for May might be the most ridiculous idea ever, but here goes!

1. I want to finish this quilt.

2. I would also like to finish this Denyse Schmidt HST quilt.

3. I would really like to get a top basted and ready to hand quilt before the family all arrives.

Of course, that one QOV must be finished this week! Nothing like really cutting things close.

I can’t believe the wedding is less than two weeks away! Woo hoo!

Have a great day!

This and That

A few bits and pieces from the last week.

Daughter #2 found out she was a calendar girl for the automotive company she works for. These calendars were distributed at the Shanghai Auto Show!

Mr. Wonderful and I did a 5k the other night. I haven’t been running lately so my results were rather dismal, but I finished!

I’ve been looking online for some beginner off road trails. I can’t wait to take Oscar the Jeep out in the woods!

And how about a little cuteness to make you smile? Here are two of my grandsons trying on their tuxedos for the wedding.

My son and his family will be here in less than a week. So once again, I am very behind in responding to comments and probably won’t catch up until after the wedding.

Have a great weekend!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Quilts of Valor

Here are the QOVs that I got quilted up last week. Both were made by Kathy D, a member of the Stitching Sisters group.

Here is a detail shot of the back.

I love how she set her eagle quilt!

And a look at the back.

I’m so glad to be back quilting Quilts of Valor!

Another Eagle QOV

Well, the Eagle QOV that I’ve been working on is still not done. But I got another one to quilt for a member of our Stitching Sisters group. Once again, I’m using an app called Adobe Ideas to try to work out my quilting designs. This app is sadly no longer available.

I’m not sure about any of these ideas. Back to the drawing board (or app) for me!

Have a great day!
