Iceland Part 3

I’ll try not to bore you with trip pics, but I have a ton of photos. Amazing water falls are everywhere in Iceland. This one is called Seljalandsfoss. It is huge!

Safety is considered a matter of common sense in pretty much every country of the world, except for the US. I realize litigation has a lot to do with this. But still it is amazing that they let you walk around behind the water fall!

Slippery? Yes, but you are walking behind a massive waterfall, so it’s expected and understood.

We got soaked, but we did wear our rain jackets and rain pants. Don’t go to Iceland without them! They dry quickly and we were nice and dry underneath.

I’ll try to scatter my trip posts out about once a week. I should finish by fall. 😂

Have a great day!

My Swap Quilt!

While we were out of town, my little swap quilt arrived from Jan in Canada!

Jan wrote in her note that everything is improved by adding a touch of gold. I couldn’t agree more and this beautiful little gem is proof!

Thank you so much, Jan, and thank you to Lori at Humble Quilts for once again organizing this fun swap!

You can see all the swap quilts at the link up here.

Have a wonderful day!

Tiny Finish

I really enjoyed making this little project!

And yes, I do use my long arm to quilt tiny things sometimes.

This mug rug of the periodic table of the elements was a perfect little gift for my niece. She has a degree in chemistry, as do I. The pattern is from the digital magazine, Make Modern, Issue 25.

Have a great day!

Who likes a sale?

I do! And it is time once again for Urban Elementz ‘ 25% off sale! That means everything on their web site is 25% off. And they sell a lot more than just pantographs these days. I’ve been going over my wishlist and preparing my order. Here are a few pantographs that I purchased during their last sale.

You probably noticed the “Custom Size” badge on several of these. For an extra $2 you can order a pantograph to be made in any size that you want.

Urban Elementz now also carries pattern boards like these:

And fabrics, like these Dream Big panels.

There is no code needed, but the sale ends Sunday, April 28th. The links in this post are affiliate links. That means if you purchase something after clicking through one of my links, I get a small kick back to help offset the cost of my blog. It doesn’t cost you any more. I appreciate your support!

Have a great day!

Winslow

I’m still trying to catch up on sleep. Our trip home took nearly 24 hours, so we are still tired. It’s wonderful to travel, but always good to come home. Little Winslow was well cared for by our puppy sitter.

While we were away, Daughter #2 and SIL decided to adopt her sister! Today they were reunited and they had a ball! Here is Lola. On the right.

They instantly recognized one another and they played hard for a couple hours. They were inseparable! Winslow didn’t last long on the way home.

It will be fun to see them grow up close to each other. Have a great day!

Iceland Part 2

I’m too tired to write much, but here are some more photos from our trip.

There are waterfalls everywhere and each one is unique and beautiful. Many can only be seen from the road as they are on private land. Can you imagine owning your own waterfall? Amazing!

I have so many photos that I’m sure I will have multiple posts coming.

Have a great day!

Vintage Bow Ties and the Flame Test

I recently bid on and purchased this small quilt top on EBay.

It came with these extra pieces.

I loved the blue setting squares, but when it arrived and I felt them, I suspected they were not 100% cotton. So I decided to test my theory with the flame test. I trimmed a small piece from one of the extra blocks and lit it on fire with a lighter.

This is what it looked like after blowing out the flame.

It is hard and crunchy. This means it has polyester I. It. The flame melts the poly which is essentially plastic.

This is a piece of 100% cotton.

When burned, the ash turns gray and is very soft to the touch.

You can see the soft gray ash on my finger tip.

I recommend doing this over a sink with water running to prevent any disasters! But it is a good test if you are unsure of fabric content.

Have a great day!

Happy Easter!

This photo speaks so much to me about the power of Easter and all that it means.

Thank you, Jesus, for all you have endured for me.

Happy Easter from Iceland!

Iceland

Tonight, Mr. Wonderful and I start our journey homeward. It has been such an amazing trip! I’ll post a few pics here and I will share more later.

This is the camper van we rented. Our transportation and accommodation all in one!

Mr. Wonderful was trying to decipher items in the grocery store.

More to come. Have a great day!
