Isn’t that his all funny stories start? Well, I’ve got one for you. And it all starts with this little girl and a place named Jay’s.

North of me, about 60 miles or so, is a sporting goods store called Jay’s. People always came in asking about hunting dogs, so Jay’s invited people with puppies to use their parking lot so others could find hunting dogs. It turned into an every week thing and there are as many nonsporting dogs as sporting dogs. You never know what will be there from week to week.

I’m sure you remember that back in March, Mr. Wonderful surprised me by showing up at Jay’s when we were out for a drive. And I fell in love with this little girl and the rest is history.

Or is it? The breeder told us she was a Yorkie/Bichon/Coton de Tulear mix. She was little and cute and walked right up to me. I was immediately smitten!
Daughter #1, SIL, and the three Es were smitten as well, so much so, that they contacted the breeder and ended up getting Winslow’s littermate, sister Lola.

I love this picture of the two of them! Looks like they are sharing a joke!
I wondered one day, how much Yorkie was in this little dog? How much Bichon? For Mother’s Day, I got a doggie DNA test kit from Winslow with a little help from Mr. Wonderful. We used the Embark kit as it has the best reviews and highest accuracy ratings.
They were great about sending test updates. She tested clear for 170 genetic conditions. Woo hoo! Finally, the breed results came in. Are you ready for this? Drumroll please…….

Ummmm…… hmmmm…….well…..wasn’t expecting that!
No Bichon, no Coton de Tulear……
Doxie???
Maltese and Shih Tzu?
Turns out, I have a Dorkie!
Bahahaha!
Apparently, I’m not the only one. Another lady got a puppy from the same litter and got the same DNA results, but she was told her dog was a purebred long hair English Doxie. And her birth date was off by one day from what I was told. Online, four of us connected and all four have litter mates with birthdates that supposedly vary by as much as two weeks. Our dogs look nearly identical. Here is a shot of the “Long Hair English Doxie.”

This lady is mad. I understand. She loves her dog, but it was not what she was looking for. Daughter #1 and I find it hysterically funny! But we fell in love with the dogs we saw and didn’t have a set plan for a specific breed.

In fact, I’m going to love telling people that I have a Dorkie dog!
This wasn’t meant to be a commercial, but if you are at all interested in an Embark DNA kit for your dog, they sent me a referral link so you can get $25 off your test kit. Just click here to get it. And yes, I get a small kickback if you purchase one, but really, I just wish I had gotten the $25 off my “Mother’s Day gift.” 😂.
Have a great day! I’m going to snuggle my Dorkie. 🤣
