I set aside a good chunk of the day yesterday and was able to finish sewing my string top together! Woo hoo!
I have many points that don’t match well. Probably due in part to the thick string pieced blocks combined with a thin solid. I’d like to use this flannel for the back, but I’ll have to do some creative piecing if I am to make it stretch far enough.
No progress on hexie borders. Decisions can take longer than the actual piecing sometimes!

I finally finished my string blocks!
I made a total of 70. They will be set like those shown above, but 10 blocks wide and 7 blocks down. This should give me a quilt measuring about 60 by 70 inches.
I’ve started picking the diagonal rows together.
Someone asked last week how Winslow and Willy are getting along. This picture sums up their relationship. Willy is getting the snuggles he loves, and Winslow is doing it by sitting on him.
Haha! They play hard and seem to love each other, but Winslow doesn’t let him forget who was here first!

I’ve managed to get a few flowers applique this week.
I’m not a big fan of Halloween, but my grandkids participate so that means I am too. The boys helped me carve my pumpkin. No scary stuff here!
Daughter #1 and her family came over for souping some trick or treating in our neighborhood. I dressed my fur kids up.
Willy didn’t mind the baby shark outfit, he just didn’t want to do pictures!
The three Es dressed as superheroes.
The weather was awful and they were happy to co back to Nana’s after a few houses. They helped me pass out candy. E2 told everyone that came to the door that they looked nice, have fun, and Happy Halloween. It was so precious! He always wants to make sure everyone is having as much fun as he is.

This was my work table as I started working on furnishing my little ranch.
I use painter’s tape to hold the tiny pieces in place while waiting for glue to dry. Here s my tiny couch.
I also built this little arm chair.
I’m not totally happy with the cushions. But I’ll live with them for now.

I have twins! Twin quilts, that is. My Chisel Star quilts are done.
I used two different pantographs and two different battings. The one above is Pellon Legacy 80/20. The one below is Mountain Mist 80/20. The Pellon is beefier and I like it, but my last roll had oil spots here and there. That means trimming out the spots and basting in batting patches. So when I found a good deal on the Mountain Mist for Prime day, I decided to try it. It feels more like Hobbs 80/20. At this point, the jury is still out. I’ll let you know later on how I feel about it.

I finished two quilts for Quilts of Compassion. I’ll share these on Friday.
I finished the Almost Amish quilt Along.
Oh, and I got a puppy. 😁 That might explain the large number of items that didn’t get done!
But seriously, how cute is he?
And on to November.
1. Need to make that QOV!
2. Quilt 5 QOV tops.
3. Baste another top for hand quilting.
4. Finish my little hexie quilt.
5. Finish one UFO.

The chisel star tops are pieced and on the frame! I loaded one large backing to quilt both one right after the other.
I was trying to use up odd bits of batting. I ran short on the second one. So I thought I’d show you how I deal with this. First, I lay a second piece of batting to overlap the short piece.
You never want to have to add to your batting while the quilt is already on the frame, but it happens!
Next, cut a line through both layers from one side to the other.
And remove the thin strips from each piece. Now he two parts should line up perfectly.
Now you se a needle and thread to carefully whip stitch the two together. Don’t pull tightly or you will end up with a ridge.
That’s it! It’s easier than it sounds. These are the pantograph I used. They are available from Urban Elementz .

I finally got around to cutting more 1 1/2 inch squares for my four patch leaders/enders.
As I make four patches, they go into this bin.
When I get a group of 25 done, they move to this bin and I update my totals on the post it note.
I think I have all my background squares cut now.
I made this block while working on the chisel stars. It is 16 1/2 inches unfinished.
Bringing my total to a whole two!
I think I will need 36 of these to get the size quilt I want. Eventually I’ll get there. Have a great day!
I haven’t forgotten these. I played with a couple layouts.
I have 20 12 inch blocks in each orientation.
I think I’ll make two 48 by 60 inch comfort quilts out of them.
I’ve been trying to keep Winslow chill after her spay last week. That is no small job!
She’s been wearing onesies from E3 to keep her from bothering her incision. It’s more comfortable than the cone.
