Finish It Up Wednesday ~ T-Shirt Quilt

One of our pastors at church is leaving to plant a new church back in his home state of Texas.

So I made this quilt as a going away gift. At our church, if you are serving in any area on a Sunday, you wear a Lifechurch t- shirt. It helps identify at a glance to our visitors who is a vetted church worker. We get new shirts a couple times a year at least. So I gathered some shirts and made a quilt!

The back is actually a light gray.

I like to use a neutral solid for sashing and borders on t-shirt quilts.

Yes, he liked it!

Sorry for the reverses photos, I took them from a Facebook Live video feed.

We will miss him and his wife, but we send our love and support with them.

Have a great day!

T-Shirt Quilt

This is one of those secret projects that I haven’t been able to share until now.

This is the panto I used.

It works really well on t-Shirt quilts.

I’ll be able to share this finish tomorrow. Have a great day!

UFO Baby Quilt

Remember these? They’ve been on my UFO list for a long time. I pulled them out again and decided it was now or never.

This would be easier with more blocks, but I don’t have any more of this white.

I think I’m getting closer. Check back soon!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I’ve continued stitching on this little experimental piece. Am I done yet?

Working on this gave me an idea of how I might improve my Mid Mod Beads quilt with similar stitching. Better?

This is what it looked like before.

Now I’m asking myself if this one is done yet!

Happy Stitching!

Iceland Part 8

More Iceland! These photos were all taken around the Snaefellsness Peninsula.

The raw beauty of this country is incredible.

These stones were to test the strength of those wanting to work on the boats in times past. The heavier the stone you could lift, the more you got paid!

One beach we visited had the remains of a shipwreck.

Iceland is unbelievably beautiful. Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Vintage Doll Quilt

I’m not sure why vintage UFOs are so appealing to me, but they sure are.

You may recall that this little patchwork piece was sent to me by Diane from O’Quilts .

These first photos were taken before washing.

The rest are after washing.

Oh, that glorious texture!

As soon as I saw this piece, I knew it would make a perfect doll quilt for my little doll bed. And I was right!

Thanks again, Diane! Have a wonderful day, everyone!

A Very Old UFO

This UFO is probably over 25 years old. I got this far and did such a bad job, that couldn’t bring myself to finish it. At the same time, it took so much work to get to this point that I couldn’t bear to throw it away! I pulled it out recently and decided it might be a fun practice piece for machine quilting.

But first I had to deal with the edges. I decided to appliqué it to a background to square it up.

It is now about 42 inches square.

My intersections are terrible. I could cover these with simple appliqué.

What would you do? I’m open to suggestions!

Have a great day!

Sewing with Fire!

Also known as welding. 😊 I’m part of a group called the Ladies Offroad Network. We are working on completing 11 challenges in 10 weeks. One of the challenges was to learn a bit of welding. So I contacted a family friend and he generously spent several hours on two separate nights with me last week in his workshop.

Cutting.

Bending.

Cleaning.

And welding!

Matt is a terrific teacher, very patient! I had a blast! I think given enough practice, this is something I would really enjoy. Not that I need another obsession…🙄

And what did I weld? First project was just welding these two small pieces of stainless steel together. You can see that my welding is not exactly professional grade….cough, cough….

And I made this heart out of rebar scraps.

And my favorite project was making this cross out of masonry nails.

I’m so thankful for friends that give so generously of their time and talents. I loved doing this!

I’m also thankful for all of you that read about my silly adventures. I’m woefully behind on responding to comments once again. But I thank you all for your kind words.

Have a great day!

More Experimenting

So I finished this little piece with a facing.

It didn’t feel done. I decided to add some big stitch quilting, but couldn’t find my perle cotton. Ugh. Then I remembered a box of top stitching thread I picked up somewhere and decided to use that.

I liked the way it looked, but the thread seemed too thin so I redid it with doubled thread.

Now the cheap fabric I used doesn’t bother me. I just can’t stop stitching! I originally intended to just hand stitch in a few areas. A few has turned into nearly all!

Daughter #3 asked if I could make a bed quilt like this……gonna have to think about that one!

Have a great day!

QOVs

I only had three tops to quilt this month for the Stitching Sisters group.

These ladies do such nice work! Once again, I have no pattern info for these quilts.

Have a great day!
