Remember when I said one of my goals was to make one Quilt of Valor this month? I’m well on my way!

….ahem….well….not exactly. My sweet friend, Zenia, from A Quilted Passion , sent me this top to finish for a QOV.

This is Zenia’s own pattern called, Straights and Arrows. So clever! I used Glide thread in Military Gold to quilt it.

I used this panto from Urban Elementz to quilt it.

She even had the binding ready to go for me. That will be the project of the day for me.

I recently won a giveaway from Lori at Humble Quilts . It was in connection with the string quilt along that she hosted. How fun is this? The book was a fascinating read.

I visited my mom last week and that lovely package was waiting for me when I returned home. Thank you, Lori!

Crossing the Mackinaw Bridge is always a milestone in the trip.

While I was home, we put up my mom’s Christmas decorations.

The pups were so cold! But they were fantastic little travelers.

On the way home, I had to stop and snap a few photos along Lake Michigan. The beauty of God’s creation is breathtaking.

I stopped in to Sew Creative in my hometown, Rhinelander, WI. They are closing their local store and had everything 25% off. I picked up these one yard pieces as well as some things for Friday, my long arm. They are great people and will be opening a long arm studio in Tomahawk, Wisconsin. I highly recommend them if you are in the market for a long arm or classes.

It was a great trip, but we were pretty tired when we got home!

I’ve had these scraps sitting in a box for almost two years.

They were left over from making this quilt for Daughter #1.

There is someone that admired this quilt, and I’d like to surprise her with aChristmas quilt of her own. So I got out this die.

And started chopping.

I set this piece aside for binding.

I also used this die when the scraps were too small for the rectangle die.

I pulled a bit of yardage from my stash to supplement, but I think I’m all set to sew now. That pile on the lower right is all I have left of the scraps.

I’m making progress on my Dutch Hexies! I got a bit of sewing done while visiting my mom last week. Here is where it is at now.
