Well, no trip to Lansing for me yesterday. The windchill was in the minus 15 degree range here and my van doors froze shut! I took that as an indication that I should just stay home. I will try again next Monday. So sad as that means another week without my long arm.
Instead, I used the time to finish taking stock of my unfinished objects in order to set some finishing priorities for the year. I found quite a few! Here they are in no particular order.
1. My envelope blocks. As you know, the blocks themselves are now finished. This will be a small quilt so it shouldn’t take long to finish once I get my long arm up and running again.

2. My Metropolitan Fair churn dash. I have been stuck on this for a while. I have some more of the red paisley and am thinking of adding narrow borders of that to finish it off.
3. I am still keeping up with my block a day log cabins to add to the pile I already had done.
4. My Shanendoah sawtooth stars are still in the works. I think I am up to 42 blocks out of 96 or so.
5. This has been a UFO for longer than I can remember. I put it on one of my lists to finish last year and it didn’t happen. Sigh.
6. This isn’t really my UFO. These are blocks that were signed at Daughter #2’s wedding in 2013. I want to finish this for her this year. Working full time and having a 6 month old is not conducive to lots of sewing.
7. The more I worked on these album blocks, the less I liked them. I need to make something and get them out of my life.
8. This is another very long standing UFO. The prints were purchased in Amsterdam in 1998! I started piecing this not long after. I have a very limited supply of these fabrics and have never been able to figure out where to go from here. It is too long and narrow. I am loathe to take this apart but it might be the only answer.
9. Another hexie hand pieced project. I have worked on this in fits and spurts over the last year or so. I have been stopped by the fact that I feel it needs an infusion of new scraps.
10. A little black and white project that I set aside because it was so darn tedious! Maybe I will get back to this.
11. Hmmmm….a wee little challenge that I initiated with an online friend. Back in October….or maybe September….Maybe the real challenge is just finishing it this year, Kathy? LOL!
12. Calendar blocks from 2010. This too was on a UFO list to finish last year.
13. Pumpkin seed blocks that I appliqued while traveling last summer. The idea was that I would eventually use these in a medallion quilt.
14. Dear, dear Jane….I started these blocks in 2009 I believe. You may never grow up to be full sized. I should just finish you off….that sounded ominous!
15. These gorgeous blocks were gifted to me by a bloggy friend last year. I haven’t forgotten them, Jan! They will become a quilt for ME this year. They are not all the same size, not even close. So that is likely why the original maker never finished the quilt. I want to take a weeks vacation and do nothing but work on these.
16. I hand pieced these blocks sometime after we moved back from France, which was 14 years ago. They would make a lovely baby quilt for a little girl.
And I might have one to gift this to. Meet my newest grandbaby, due in June 2015!

We don’t know yet if Grand Baby #3 is a girl or not but she/he will be joining this handsome big brother, Baby L.
Have a wonderful Tuesday!
