String Along Update

I met my string block quota for the month already. I thought I’d see how they look without background.

I didn’t have enough blocks for the following arrangement, but with a little photo trickery, I was able to get an idea of how this would look.

I still think I like this best.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I haven’t been home this past week. Daughter #2 and I took the grand dogs on across country trip from Michigan to Arizona. I’ll share more about our trip later, but this is the project I worked on while on the road.

I’m glad to be past the deconstruction phase of this and back to putting it together again. I’ve got more posts scheduled this week, but may run out before I get home so don’t worry if you don’t hear from me!

Have a great day!

Leader/Ender Update

Still working on the two inch four patches.

This looks like a lot, but I still have a long way to go.

According to my notes, I have 575 done and need a total of 1152.

I’m going to need to get cutting though. My bin of 1 1/2 inch squares is getting low.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Little Basket Quilt

I’ve finished my little basket quilt!

It actually ended up larger than a lot of my little quilts. It is approximately 25 by 29 inches, too big for my doll bed. Here are some pics before washing.

The vintage black coat I started with had this one brown stain on the corner of the basket.

When I took this photo of the back, I realized I missed a line of quilting.

Here are after washing pics.

The stain is lighter, but definitely still there. I’m okay with that.

I machine quilted this on my longarm, Friday.

Have a great day!

January/February Goals

I realized that I never set any goals for January! It has been another crazy busy month around here so it’s probably a good thing that I didn’t. This is what I did accomplish this month sewing wise.

I finished this little swap quilt ahead of schedule.

I started and finished my Kaffe Stripes quilt.

I quilted 6 QOVs.

And a quilt for a friend.

And I made one baby quilt.

I also finished two small quilts.

February is a short month, but I hope to pack as much quilting in as I can!

1. Quilt 5 QOVs.

2. Make one baby quilt.

3. Finish hand quilting the vintage top I’ve been working on.

4. Finish the QOV Mosaic Mystery quilt.

5. Make my allotment of string blocks for the string along.

Have a great day!

Little Basket Progress

Here are some more process shots of my little quilt. I’ve never done anything with a Pennsylvania Dutch color scheme so that was a challenge for me. I played around with the HST border.

And thought ahead to an outer border.

I wanted to keep bringing the center colors out in successive borders to give a cohesive look.

Time for quilting!

Have a great day!

A Little Project

If you follow me on Instagram (@katyquilts), you will have seen much of this little project. I was inspired by a fellow IGer, @tossed_but_not_sunk. She made an adorable doll quilt starting with one vintage block.i shamelessly copied much of her design, with her blessing.this is the block I started with.

I added these vintage fabric triangles, but the rest had to come from repro stash.

The green border fabric came from another Aussie IG friend.

The basket handle had been basted all these years, I finally appliqued it and removed the basting stitches.

I hope to share my finish on Friday.

Have a great day!

Design Wall Monday ~ Dutch Hexies Again

I have my quilt top taken apart and have been playing with some lay outs.

I have another trip coming up and I’d like to take this along to work on. I’m not loving any of these so I will keep at the design wall.

Also, I’ve been very remiss in responding to comments. Life has been crazy busy and I don’t see it letting up any time soon.

Have a great day!

This and That

I was digging through some vintage stash and found these. They might be my next vintage remake.

I finally wrangled the batting scraps into submission. I hate that job, but I’m always glad when I’m done.

I finally finished making the welting for Daughter #3’s vintage lounge chair.

I’ve “konmaried ” my clothes.

And here is a pic of my cute grand dog, Winnie. She’s an expert at getting comfy.

Have a great day!
