Dollhouse Chronicles ~ The House That Friends Built

I was asked if I decorated my dollhouses for Christmas. I have to say that it would be so fun! But this year, I only had time for a few trees. This one has lights.

I have added a few furniture pieces from Shasta into each of my houses.

These tiny fabric bolts from Lori are perfect in my sewing room!

As a little girl, I always wanted an attic that I could play in. I finally got one.

I want to thank each of you for helping me along my dollhouse journey. Especially to my dear friend, Donna and her daughter, Emily, for this beautiful house. Such a treasure! To Susan for my lovely dinnerware, to Shasta for furniture, to Lori for fabric in the perfect size, to everyone who encouraged me along the way. This is the house my friends have built.

Here’s to new adventures in the New Year!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Tiny Bow Ties

I really needed a finish this week. I think I just wanted to cross something off my list as done! This little quilt fit the bill.

I mentioned the other day that I wanted it to exactly fit this small table top. And it’s darn close!

On the back of the chair is my rein deer hide that I brought back from Iceland.

I quilted this on the long arm with a tight, random grid. No marking or measuring. Once it was loaded, the quilting took all of 15 minutes.

Everything came from the scrap bucket.

Rope Basket

Back in August, I started making a rope basket. You can see the start of it here. I ran out of rope and then never got back to it. But Diane at O’Quilts has been making beautiful rope bowls and she inspired me to get back at it. I finally finished!

Winslow is a great little model. 😄 Making a basket this big does get a bit awkward. I used a pile of books to help support it.

My joins and ending are not particularly graceful.

I think the inside looks cool!

I certainly didn’t need another basket, but I do love it!

More Bow Ties!

I have a small end table in my family room. I always have a small quilt on it to use as a giant mug rug. But none of my little quilts fit exactly right.

So I decided this was the perfect place for a tiny bow tie quilt.

Oops….looks like I need to make a few more. Come back Friday as I should have this little bit finished to show you.

I said I would let you know how the knitting was going. The ribbing went well, but I went to Abilene when I started the pattern rounds. Ugh. I may have to start over. Time to call in the expert (my friend).

Tiny Bow Ties

I had to try out this tiny bow tie die set I just got from Accuquilt .

It makes 3 inch finished bow ties. This is what the dies look like.

These are designed to be a companion set so the square die is not included. I already had that so I’m all set. Since I have an Accuquilt Studio cutter, I need to use this adapter to use GO! dies in my cutter.

These triangles finish at 3/4 inch!

Shopping

I did a bit of shopping online Thanksgiving weekend. This is my loot!

This is what I got at Fat Quarter Shop .

And this is my order from Hab and Dash. The thread is for Friday, my longarm. The rest is stabilizer for machine embroidery.

And this is what I got from Accuquilt.

I listened to this book and enjoyed the first 3/4 of it.

Dave Barry is a self avowed atheist. The last part of the book tells of a crippling illness that his daughter endured. She recovered, but he uses this to affirm his atheism. I found it so sad to live a life with no hope for what happens when it is over.

Slow Stitching Sunday

I finished piecing my Dutch Hexies top!

But today, I think I will take up the knitting needles. I have this lovely collection of yarn to use. The gray in the center is one of four identical skeins that Daughter #3 brought to me from England. The rest I picked up in Iceland.

I talked knitting and yarn with a sweet friend of mine the other night. She is an excellent knitter and loaned me a pattern to make a hat out of this yarn.

Well, that was fun!

I recently received an email from Ranked Blogs telling me I had made the list of top 110 (weird number!) quilting blogs!

I would blog even if no one read it, but it is nice that people do. It is my record of my quilting journey and keeps me motivated. Finish It Up Friday ~ QOV

Here is the Quilt of Valor that I finished on the last day of November.

I used a pantograph called Malachite from Urban Elementz . I had this printed in a 16 inch size.

I used part of a panel for the center. It had printed quilt blocks at the top and bottom which I cut off. I like it better this way.

You can really see the panto on the back.

The sale at Urban Elementz is ending soon! I need to finalize my order.

Sawtooth Stars Swap

Barb at Fun with Barb is once again hosting a block swap. I realized I didn’t have enough of this print for the border of my Dutch hexies, so I decided to use it in my swap blocks. The blue center was also one of my choices, but I have lots of that!
