Would you?

I’ve been thinking about the top I showed yesterday. There is something that bothers me, and I think I’ve identified the issue.

It’s this. These cornerstones bother me.

I’m thinking about racing them. Perhaps a solid blue?

Or yellow?

As a reminder, here is the full top.

Any ideas? Is it worth the effort of replacing these?

Have a great day!

Another New Old Top

You know I can’t resist a deal! Back when I broke the stand for my hand quilting hoop, I bought a different kind that works okay, but I knew if I found a good deal on another stand like I had that I would grab it. Last week, this showed upon Facebook Marketplace. Within the hour, it was mine!

As an added bonus, it came with this quilt top!

It has some really fun fabrics in it.

I don’t think I love this top enough to hand quilt it. I’ll likely finish it on the long arm.

Have a great day!

Border Decisions

It didn’t take long at all to piece the center of this quilt. The harder part is deciding which border fabric to go with.

Hmmmm…..

Have a good one!

Design Wall Monday

Several quilters I follow on Instagram have recently reproduced this little quilt.

It is from this book, which I’ve had for a while now.

I had a perfect fabric in mind for the borders, but could I find it when I went looking? Of course not. I did find these options though.

Then I found the one I was hunting for. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Any of these would work, I just have to decide.

I chose sizes such that I would end up with the right size quilt for my new little doll bed. I am using these dies from Accuquilt .

I love that I can layer my scraps and cut 60 1 1/2 inch squares in one pass!

While I was at it, I cut up some more scraps for my leader/ended project.

Have a great day!

Appliqué

I love this pattern from Fun with Barb.

I have been thinking about combining the applique from this with my red and white applique piece. I reduced the size a bit and cut them out.

Hmmmm….love these shapes, but this isn’t working for me yet.

Maybe a symmetrical arrangement like Barb used would work better. Or maybe I’ll just make a quilt like hers and do something else with this.

Have a great day!

Dollhouse Chronicles

This week I tackled painting the exterior of the doll house. As a reminder, this is what it looked like before.

And here is after.

I decided that I only wanted to use paint I had on hand. I vastly underestimated how long this would take. But I’m pleased now that it is done.

I did some porch repairs and I hung up this little porch swing.

And found a park bench for the other porch.

I love these little shingles in the gable!

For the shingles, I watered down black craft paint to use as stain.

I removed the plastic window panes for painting so I need to put those back in yet.

I loved the original color scheme, but I needed to make a few repairs and knew I’d never find paint to match well enough.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ The Yuge Quilt

It’s so big that I can only show you one quarter of it.

Sadly, the quilting doesn’t show well in these pics. I think it really looks great.

The backing was a sateen so it shows well there!

I really enjoyed quilting this one even though it was a challenge due to its large size. I learn something with every project!

Have a great weekend!

It’s Yyyuuuugggggeeee!!!!

Bahaha! Couldn’t resist! This quilt really is huge though.

I’m pretty sure it is the limit of what I can do on my frame at 110 inches wide and 128 long.

This is not my top, I’m quilting it for someone else. This is the panto I’m using.

It is from Urban Elementz. It’s looking good so far.

Have a great day!

Vintage 9 Patch

Thank you for all the sweet comments on my little doll bed! Many of you said it was likely a canopy bed. I feel certain you are right!

At the same sale, I picked up this vintage quilt top.

It has some lovely fabrics!

And some issues.

It actually has quite a few frayed seams that need to be fixed. It was handpieced and it appears to have been washed. This is never a good thing deal with a vintage top as the seams often fray beyond repair.

Now, what to do with it? Hmmmm…..gonna have to think on that one.

Have a great day!

Doll Bed

Some one asked recently if I had a collection of doll beds. I said no, I just had one I purchased and two small ones I had made. Then I found this at a sale for $1.

How could I leave that behind?

Since it was missing a slat, I repositioned them to fill in the spaces.

And I made a mattress out of pillow ticking and batting scraps.

Thinking I had many quilts that would work, I found I had none!

Time to make a little quilt for a four poster bed!

I wonder if this had been part of a bunk bed set at one time because of these holes at the top of the posts. I could probably add tiny finials. Perhaps I’ll just accept it as part of the history.

Oh, darn! Looks like I need to plan another little quilt! Hmmmm…..so, do I have a collection now?

Have a great day!
