Well, this finish came much sooner than expected! Machine quilting is much faster than hand quilting. In the end, I feel I made the right decision. I love this quilt!
I used the same fabric for binding that I used for the repairs and s plain muslin on the back.
I wanted Baptist Fans for the texture and even though this isn’t hand quilted, I still got a lot of texture going on.
The above pictures are before washing. The next one shows a side by side comparison before and after washing.
It turned out delightfully snuggly!
I was surprised to see that the blue bled through to the backing on the stitching lines. You can see it in the photo above. Doesn’t bother me a lick.
This is a queen size bed and the quilt would fit better on a full, but I love walking by and taking a peek at it! So it will stay here for now.
Even machine quilted, this turned out exactly as I had imagined. I love when that happens! Have a great day!

The fans are perfect for this quilt!!
The original maker is so pleased, surely. What a lovely finish. Baptist Fans is perfect for that vintage!
Wow Katy what a gorgeous quilt you have and the quilting finishes it off perfectly. I love baptist fans and I dont think you could have made a better choice, it looks so cosy on that bed!
Don’t apologize for the machine quilting – it is perfect! What a great great quilt – I love everything about it. You did right by it! It looks great on the bed. It crinkled up just right in that vintage way. The yellow is great. Years (many years) ago when I learned machine quilting from Harriet Hargrave, her aim was that we could achieve that old vintage look, in a doable time frame, and actually get our quilts finished, on our own domestic sewing machines!!
Turned out beautifully, love it!! I didn’t realize it was so big!!
Came out fabulous!
Beautiful job Katy.
Love how it turned out! I too would like to know how you quilted the design. Did you use a pantograph or rulers perhaps?
great job. huge pat on the back. patti in florida

Wonderful job resurrecting this quilt top and giving it life! It’s just beautiful.
Gorgeous texture and color! I had thought this was a smaller crib size until seeing it on the bed!
Hi Katy! Love, love, LOVE this. I just want to pop over and pet it for a while. It looks SO very nice on your bed. And that Baptist Fan pattern – just the perfect choice for this lovely quilt. ~smile~ Roseanne
