Mr. Wonderful left early this morning on a business trip to China. After church, I plan to spend my day slow stitching.
First up will be the binding for my Almost Amish quilt. I requilted it yesterday.
Then I hope to start hand quilting my vintage hourglass quilt. First though, I need to decide how to quilt it.
I could go with small Baptist fans…
Or the big ones that I love so well.
Or I could do something totally different. But I don’t want to think too hard…

No dollhouse progress this week. I did get my Almost Amish quilt completely unquilted.
Sadly, I have a square in the middle that I snagged with my seam ripper so I have some work to do before I can requilt it.
I changed my mind about the backing as well. I think this batik will work well.
E1 and E2 each spent the night on consecutive nights this week.
I love that they get so excited to come!
I basted the vintage hour glass top for hand quilting.
Still enjoying my sweet puppies! We have had Willy for just a week, but already I can’t imagine not having him.

I fully expected to have an awesome finish to share today. Lori at Humble Quilts came out with the last clue for the Almost Amish quilt along and I got busy! I finished the top and loved it!
I loaded it up on the long arm and got quilting.
I only had about four lines to go, when my thread broke. That was when I realized that even though my stitches looked perfect on top, the back was a hot mess.
It isn’t easy to see and I couldn’t tell when I looked at it while it was on the frame. It was only when I ran my hand over it that I could feel it.
See those loops? Ugh. They are everywhere on the back. I took it off the frame and it will take days to rip out all of the quilting and start over.
Ugh.
I wanted to cry, but that won’t help. Time to get busy with the seam ripper.

It feels like forever since I’ve started something new. But I got an idea and had to try it. 
I’m using these Accuquilt dies. BTW, all studio dies are currently half off with the code 50STUDIO.
I had two littleFQ bundles to use. I intended to only use one, but with the chisel die, you have to pay attention to cutting or you get mirror image pieces. Did I pay attention? Of course not! 🤣
Anyway, I picked these up at Walmart. Not a place I normally shop for fabric, but…..
Yeah, they got me. Not quilt shop quality, but definitely on par with JoAnn’s. I have enough pieces cut for 40 twelve inch blocks.
It might be a couple baby quilts or one larger quilt. Time will tell.

I decided the little quilt I showed yesterday was the perfect project for hand quilting.
Unstitching the top from the back was a good project while watching the puppies outside.
Looks like it was hand stitched with huge stitches and then someone went back and machine stitched.
I hope to decide on my quilting plan and get it basted today.

I went to an amazing estate sale last week. I really just wanted to see the massive historic house, but I also found this treasure.
It doesn’t have any batting. It appears to have been tied at one time.
All the work was done by machine. The backing was pulled to the front to bind the sides.
And the front borders on the top and bottom were pulled to the back. Quite curious!
I don’t think this was ever used. It may have been intended a large doll quilt. There was a huge collection of vintage dolls, doll accessories etc. The house had been in the same family since it was built one hundred years ago. The toys were owned by children that grew up there.
This humble quilt didn’t seem to fit the grandeur of the house which made me think it was for a large doll bed rather than a child of the family.
The house is going up for sale and I’d love to buy it! But I’m not sure I fit the house either. 😆

I’m posting a little late today. You see, we have a new addition to the family. Meet Willy.
He is a 12 week old Yorkie/Bichon mix. So far Winslow and he are doing well.
She even tried to give him kisses!
She has let him know who the food boss is!
Lola (Daughter #1’s dog and Winslow’s littermate) came over yesterday to check out the new arrival.
He is already well loved by E3 who has the biggest heart for all animals.
He’s a spunky little guy! Not sure I’ll get much sewing done this week! Have a great day!
Believe it or not, I have 12 of these flowers done!
I’m not sure what my next step will be. I’m thinking about appliqueing these to background blocks. Or they could become a border for a medallion quilt. Hmmmm….. I have no idea. Maybe I should make more…..or not.

It has been rainy and dark all week here so I haven’t been able to get great photos of this finish.
I used one Mirage jellyroll and some white strips to make this 60 by 80 inch quilt.
This particular jelly roll had several strips of each print. That is why I used the white strips as I did, to prevent like prints from touching.
It was quick and easy, if a bit boring, to make.
I have more jelly rolls with multiple strips of the same fabric. It makes designing an interesting quilt more of a challenge. Time to think about the next one.
