QOV # 43 and 44

I wanted to post these last two QOVs together. They were made by sisters, Val and Kath, from our Stitching Sisters group. And as a big bonus, I have pattern information! Kathy wrote to me, “The quilt tops you have from Val and me this month came from “Quilts of Valor – A 50 State Salute”.  I challenged her to do the Arizona state quilt with me, and it’s called “Constellation”. ” These are gorgeous tops! First is Val’s.

And this one was stitched up by Kathy.

That’s all for this month. I sure enjoyed working on these. If you would like to get involved in covering our veterans with Quilts of Valor, click here for more information. You can long arm, sew a top, even make just one block.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I finished the quilting! Hubby was out of town last week and I worked on it every time I sat down.

I used unbleached muslin on the back and used part of the original backing as binding strips.

I hope to get this binding complete today so I can give it a bath tomorrow.

Happy Sunday!

MCM Dollhouse Chronicles

There has been progress on my little mid mod dollhouse! I finally got around to painting the exterior.

And I made and painted a little for since it didn’t come with one.

Oops! The screws were a wee bit long! I’ll figure out how to fix that later. It also needs a door knob.

No matter how much I tape, I still end up with touch up to do.

I was going to use an asphalt shingle or two to give the effect of a gravel type roof. But you can’t buy just one or two.

So I masked off most of it and spray painted with flat black.

It’s an odd little home made house. You can see how high the windows are. The entire roof comes off to access the inside. And it is very heavy. I think it is quite charming with its quirks.

I like the giant plant on the porch. I need to figure out how to paint/finish the porch floor and make some patio furniture. I’d also like to add some miniature breeze block at each end. And I still have work to do inside.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Almost Amish

This time it really is done!

The quilting went faster the second time around.

I always love doing Lori’s Quilt Alongs.

I added the border as I wanted it a little bigger on my table.

Have a great day!

Vintage Hour Glass

Thank you for all of your help choosing a background for my little hexie project. I’ve narrowed it down to two choices.

This little quilt is coming along much faster than expected. I’ve had a hard time putting it down!

I really missed having a hand quilting project. I’ve had some waiting time this week has been the perfect project to work on in between other things. I was asked what I’m using to mark this. Here it is:

I should be able to finish this before the end of the month. Have a great day!

Decisions, Decisions

Remember my EPP flowers? I’ve decided to applique them to background blocks. So it’s time to choose a background.

Any preferences? Have a great day!

Progress

Yesterday felt like one step forward and two steps back. I did make another 8 star blocks so they are half done. The other half will all be mirror images to these.

Winslow had a grooming appointment. Here is the before.

And here is after. She looks like a different dog! I had them cut her pretty short. She is getting spayed next week so I thought it would be easier.

Apparently, Willy was jealous. He made a mess in his crate when I went to pick Winslow up so he had to have a bath.

I got a bit more hand quilting done and then I had to go pick up QOV tops for quilting.

Today I will be gone for a good chunk of the day so I may not get anything at all done!

Have a good one!

DWMonday ~ Chisel Stars

I realized I never showed a finished chisel star block last week. Here it is.

These are so simple! I made all four of these as leaders/enders while finishing the piecing of my Almost Amish top for the quilt along.

I was curious as to how it would look if I mixed in some mirror image blocks. So I flipped a couple over to get an idea.

I’m hoping to get some more of these pieced today. I will have enough blocks for one big quilt or two smaller ones. I’ll decide after the blocks are all pieced.

Have a great day!
