Still Quilting Carl….

I decided on this Gothic Arch for the border quilting.

Then I did a simple crosshatch on the squares.

I had extra room on the side, so I threw some orphan blocks on and quilted them to make hearts.

I really hope to finish this before Friday.

Have a great day!

A Teeny Tiny Quilt

A friend on Instagram challenged me to make a teeny tiny quilt. My printer isn’t working, so I used graph paper for my pattern.

That center square finishes at 1/4”.

It reminds me of a peppermint candy!

The paper was already coming off.

The binding looks huge! I cut it 1 1/4” wide.

Ta daaa! It’s a bit wonky, but it’s done.

It is very simply quilted.

I decided to add a bit of perle cotton so I could use it as a tree ornament.

Have a great day!

Quilting Carl

I mentioned on Saturday that I finally had Carl loaded on the frame.

Then I was stuck on the quilting. I grabbed my Apple Pencil and the YouDoodle app and tried s few things out.

It’s good that I quilt better than I draw!

Have a great day!

Slow Sunday Stitching

I found a new tool for slow stitching!

I picked this up at Goodwill. It’s a vintage sewing stand.

I’ve loaded it up.

And I’m ready to sew!

Have a great day!

This and That

The top was finished in Michigan and loaded on the frame here in Arizona!

I just finished this book. Walking even part of the Camino de Santiago is a dream of mine.

Speaking of the end of the earth, would you live here? I saw this on the interwebs. It is a house on an island in Iceland and is referred to as the loneliest house on earth. The location and view is stunning! I fell in love with Iceland when we visited a few years ago. If you could get reliable mail delivery and internet, I think I could do this. 😁

This made me laugh way too hard!

It’s great to be back in the Valley of the Sun. I hope it is just as lovely where you are.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Triangle Mini

This little bit sure took a long time! I guess that’s what happens when a project keeps getting pushed to the back burner.

I doubled up on the hand quilting and I’m glad I did.

I used a FQ from my stash for the back.

I washed it to punch up the texture.

It’s a perfect fit for this little doll bed!

Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday ~ Christmas Pillows

Here is another older post that feels just in time! This post is five years old, but the project shared here remains one of my favorite Christmas ideas! Enjoy!

We’ve so enjoyed an extended visit from Daughter #2. It will be hard to see her leave tomorrow . But I will hold onto the memories and be thankful for this time. Since she won’t be here at Christmas, she received her Christmas gift early.

Having it sent here meant that we could have a play date in the sewing room. She wanted to work on Christmas pillows so we did. She found a photo on Pinterest of one she liked. She used my leaf die and AccuQuilt Studio Cutter to cut out the leaves. She used a glue stick to hold the leaves in place and just stitched down the middle of each to keep them dimensional. She used some of my hand dyed fabrics so there is no right or wrong side. She hand stitched the buttons in place. Isn’t it beautiful?

She will add a pillow form when she gets home. I took inspiration for my pillow from this gift bag she bought for me at Bath and Bodyworks.

I traced the pieces onto Heat N Bond Light and fused the design down. Then I straight stitched near the edge of all the pieces.

I love my pillow! Mostly, I love it for the memory of a rare day in the sewing room with my girl.

Have a great day!

Carl

I said this project needed a name so, Carl it is! I have my four strips done.

And I set them with the green strips in between.

I tried narrow yellow borders at the top and bottom, but that didn’t work. I’ll add green borders all around and the top will be done.

Have a great day!

Leader/ Enders

This photo shows one column all put together, but not yet squared off. I thought I’d show you how I’m doing that.

I took my ruler and sliced it!

I made sure I cut between points.

Then I just switched the two pieces around and stitched one last diagonal seam.

I may go back and trim so those points are a quarter inch from the edge.

Ta daaaa!

Two down, two to go.

Before I get back to sewing, it isn’t too late to register for today’s AccuQuilt Live program!

Hope to see you there! Have a great day!
