I’ve been setting aside things to take to AZ ever since we got back! But we are flying rather than driving, so many of those things will wait. But you know I’m packing some quilting stuff. Here is one of my suitcases.
Lots of dies and some fabric, pantographs, a few UFOs, and two books.
I didn’t spend as much time getting projects organized and prepared to take this time. Now that I have a decent stash there, I don’t really need to. It is more about deciding if I want to finish a current project now or later.
The joy of having a house there, is that I don’t have to pack any clothes!
It seems silly to call this quilt Welcome, unless you know what it was supposed to be!
This is the picture from the pattern cover.
So, what happened? I used spool blocks in place of the letter blocks. Decided to use alternate blocks, which required making a couple more pieced blocks. Then I chose a plain border. What can I say? I’m terrible at following patterns.
Baptist Fan quilting for the win! By the way, my quilt finished at 57” square.
And though it doesn’t look like it in this photo, I used a scrappy binding and a solid backing.
It just wanted to dance in the breeze!
A big thanks to Lori for another great QAL. I’ll add Lori’s link as soon as she posts so you can see the other finishes from this QAL.
This post dates back to August 2021. Not terribly long ago, but I thought it was a Christmas quilt without being in your face. 🤣 Enjoy this look back and have a great day!
This quilt has been on my bucket list for ages! I finally pieced the top last winter in Arizona.
I knew I wanted to quilt it with lots of feathers, but I was so afraid of ruining the top, that I procrastinated.
Last week I told myself, no more! I marked my top and got to work. I only marked the spines with a chalk pencil. All feathers were free handed.
My feathers are far from perfect, but I like the overall effect. I used thread to match the fabric because I knew I’d have back tracking and I wanted to minimize how noticeable that would be. What I didn’t realize is that the red thread would not behave as well as the green.
My corners sort of match! This finished at about 45 inches square.
I think now I want to put feathers on everything! I just haven’t done them in a while and I lost confidence in my ability to do them. I definitely need practice, but I’m okay with how it turned out.
I love this color combination. I might have to make a bed quilt like this some day.
I’ve finished sewing all the strips of squares needed for this quilt. It appears I still have plenty of 2” squares in the bin.
I think this is what I will focus my sewing time on until we head west. Time for the next step.
But before I start sewing, today is a die release AccuQuilt Live program! I’m very excited as you might just catch a project from yours truly. 😁 click here to register.
There will also be give always and special pricing on new dies and bundles. Get the details on the deals here.
I started another section, as you can see below. I think I will make 6 “blocks” like the part on the left and then stitch those together. One block measures approximately 27” square.
This is definitely a long term project for me. I spent a few minutes figuring out how many more pieces I need to cut for this.
The final answer is…..a lot. I’m using these AccuQuilt Studio dies for this project.
The Studio cutter lives in Michigan. I do have a 3” cut square die for my AccuQuilt GO! Cutter in Arizona, but not the diamond shape.
I’m trying to decide if I want to take this project with me, or let it rest in Michigan for a few months. If I take it, I need to get some cutting done before I go.
Mr. Wonderful picked this up for me! I just love it. 😊
I got this gorgeous arrangement from Daughter #3 and SIL for Thanksgiving.
Our family always does puzzles on holidays. Sadly, we found this one was missing a piece. Ugh.
I think I have an idea for this pretty yarn.
E1 told me his sidekick, Stinky needed a scarf too.
Love that smile.
And all three Es loved their quilts!
Before I go, AccuQuilt has Studio Cutters on sale and all Studio dies are half off! I have every AccuQuilt cutter, but this is still my favorite. There is nothing like cutting ten layers at a time.
There are also some crazy good deals on GO! Dies in the Overstock section!
