Another QOV

This beautiful top was made by Kathy. The pattern is called Road to Oklahoma.

Not gonna lie, I struggled with the quilting on this one. For some reason I had real issues with tension. The most frustrating part is that I never did figure out what the culprit was.

Here is the panto I used.

It is from Urban Elementz. After I finished this, I spent a few hours cleaning in the sewing room. I had a lot of dust bunnies to evict! My tables are clear as well and my last QOV for this month is loaded and quilting started.

Today looks like another good day to stay in and sew. I think I will!

Have a great day!

Churn Dash Swap Blocks

Once a year for the last several years, Barb at Fun with Barb has hosted a block swap. I’m glad I was online when she posted the sign up for this year as it filled in a matter of hours! I’m in the group exchanging 6 inch churn dash blocks in Civil War repro fabrics. Here is my first block.

And this is what my second set will look like.

I have all the rest cut out and ready to go. It didn’t take long at all with my die cutter.

Btw, you can check out all the current deals at Accuquilt here. Have a great day!

9 Patch QOV

I’m still working away on quilting these QOVs. This top was made by Greg. Yes, he’s a member of our Stitching Sisters group too.

This is the panto that I used. It is now available from Urban Elementz .

Have a great day!

Treasures

Once a year, my local Guild has a Trash to Treasures sale at a meeting to raise funds for the guild. I cleaned out and donated some books and picked up a few things as well. I think this panel will be perfect for one of my grandsons.

Loved the Downton Abbey Fabric!

This is an interesting quilt top made from French General fabrics. I’m not sure if I will quilt it as is or recycle it on some way.

I’ve never tried silk batting and I’m looking forward to trying this out.

They had three tables of ties that were given to the guild. You could take as many as you wanted. Our guild will have a challenge using these ties at our show next year.

Have a great weekend!

Finish It Up Friday ~ The Jeep Quilt

I finished the quilt for Oscar. As you can see, the weather hasn’t cooperated for photos, so these will have to do.

I used my 6 inch tumbler die from Accuquilt . I didn’t want to cut the fabric into small pieces and this die was perfectly sized.

I used a pantograph from Urban Elementz called Malachite for the quilting. It reminds me of a topographical map.

I kept trying to pick threads off this blue print, then realized it was trails on the map. Silly me!

I love the backing fabric. I had to piece the back and I got it as close to centered as possible.

I think the center looks like a reflection.

This bench at the park looks very low, in fact, the snow is quite deep!

I’ve been enjoying using this quilt inside, but eventually it will stay in the Jeep.

BTW, if you click here, you can get free shipping on any order over $25 from Accuquilt.

Have a great day!

First QOV is 2018

I just finished quilting my first QOV top for 2018. This was made by Joan, a member of our Stitching Sisters group.

I used this panto. I bought it from Digi-Tech. However, on January 1st, Digi-Tech merged with Urban Elementz. So now this is available through Urban Elementz!

I bought this one because it reminded me of waving flags so it seemed a good match for this top.

Here’s a look at the back.

Probably 95% of my pantos have come from either Digi-Tech or Urban Elementz, so I’m thrilled to be able to find all the best pantos in one place!

Have a great day!

Mr. Embroidery

Mr. Wonderful has a new title! I’ve mentioned before that he is better with the embroidery machine than I am. He has proven that once again.

He’s working on Jeep shirts for our grandsons. They all like Nana’s Jeep! Mr. found this graphic online, digitized it, and stitched it up!

I think he did an amazing job!

Have a great day!

Free Pattern ~ Catch-All Basket

I’ve mentioned before that Accuquilt has free patterns available on their site. You don’t necessarily have to have a die cutter to use them. I came across this free pattern and decided to try it out. You definitely don’t need a cutter for this one, but it is nice if you decide to do a strippy version.

The pattern actually has directions for six different sized baskets. I decided to make the smallest size and to use a practice piece of machine quilting I had laying around.

I dad some leftover backing from the baby quilt I’ve been working on and used that for the lining.

That ugly fabric I used on the back of my practice piece will be hidden inside.

Ta daaa! This little basket is about 3 1/2 inches high and the bottom is about 4 1/2 inches square.

It would be good for storing lots of little things in the sewing room.

You can click here to find all the current deals going on at Accuquilt. I think I’ll go digging through my other machine quilting samples to make some more baskets in other sizes.

Have a great day!

DWMonday ~ Another Baby Quilt

I’ve mentioned the baby boom at our church. Another tiny member arrived just the other day. I already had a quilt ready, but the new momma posted pics of her nursery and I knew I had fabric that would match. I got this charm pack as part of my Christmas gift from Daughters #1 and #3 last year and the fabrics in it will look great with her decor.

I kept things very simple, I used my die cutter to cut out 5 inch squares of white and just alternated those with the squares from the charm pack.

It didn’t take long at all to piece this top together and get it on the fram.

Now it is quilted and the binding is ready to go.

This is just the kind of quick project I needed to get back into the sewing room. Have a great day!

Thank You

Thank you to all for your thoughts, prayers, and sweet comments about my little buddy.

I admit to spending way too much time watching this and vegging out on the couch this week.

I did work on a mug rug yesterday.

And enjoyed this glorious sunset the other night.

It’s hard to be sad when this little man visits me! We had fun with Play Dough.

I’m glad my sweet grand dogs are still here. Hubby took this picture of the them with Pierre early last week.

Have a great day!
