I hade made a decision on the jelly roll pattern and then Mr. Wonderful said the colors for the housewarming quilt should be teal, purple and blue. Back to the drawing board! These are not prominent colors in my stash. Then I remembered that I had a few of these charm packs.

I traded some pieces from two of the packs and came up with this.

Way too small, I know. But I have a plan! Stay tuned. I got distracted by an invite to the pumpkin farm with the three Es.

When I got home, I realized the second clue for the Sajou Quilt Along was posted. So I whipped that out. Ole Abe is leaning to the right! Lol!

I hope the next step sets him to rights, if not, I’ll improvise.

I’m behind on my Military Mystery QAL. I hope to get caught up with that tomorrow. We were visiting my sweet MIL in Missouri last weekend so I’m running behind on a few things.

Lori over at Humble Quilts has started a new little quilt along! Here are my pieces cut and ready to sew.

The little squares finish at 1 inch. Lori recommended fussy cutting something for the center. I decided to put Ole Abe in the middle and make mine patriotic.

I have to say that this die from Accuquilt is an absolute life saver for little scrappy bits like this.

While working, I started listening to this book. This author was recommended to me by both my sister in law and brother in law last weekend. So far, so good!

I haven’t forgotten this project….though I have tried. Every now and then, it yells at me from under a pile of stuff in the sewing room.

I liked where this was headed, but I knew if I didn’t get every piece perfectly placed, that it would look all wrong. I finally decided to put it back on the design wall and play some more.

Still playing with this, but I think I might be getting somewhere.

Btw, I used these dies from Accuquilt to cut my leaves. What a time saver!

It is no secret that I am a huge fan of Gwen Marston’s work. I made this quilt ages ago and I still love it!

It was inspired by this quilt made by Gwen.

The above quilt is patterned in this book.

Since hubby and I had a trip planned, that meant getting a handwork ready to take. I rarely do any appliqué, but thought this would be a good time for a small appliqué project. These are my inspiration choices, all from Gwen’s book shown above.

I love her quirky, folk art quilts that are firmly rooted in tradition. Time to get to work!
