June/July Goals

Here are the goals I set for myself for June:

1. I Spy quilt! Done!

2. Quilt 5 QOVs Done! Actually, I only had three to do this month.

3. Finish a secret sewing project for reveal this month. Done!

4. Ten string diamonds. Not done. 😐

5. Work on one UFO from the list. Done!

6. Baste another top for hand quilting. Done and quilted! Small, but a finish is a finish!

7. Make a t-shirt quilt for a gift. Done!

What else did I do?

I made this little Modern Beads quilt.

And made this little experimental piece.

And on to July!

1. I want to cross another item of two off my UFO list.

2. I want to make progress on my hexie project.

3. Get a hand appliqué project done .

4. Quilt five QOVs.

5. Ten string diamonds.

Kind of vague, but I have a couple trips so I’m trying to stay flexible!

Me? Appliqué?

Shocking, right? Well, quilter Jeanna Kimball, recently shared a tutorial on Instagram for her back basting method of appliqué. I tried it out and couldn’t believe the results!

I’m no expert and I’m only comparing myself to myself, but this is the best appliqué I’ve ever done. It motivated me to prep a project I’ve had in the back of my mind for years.

This looks to be a perfect travel sewing project.

Finish It Up Friday ~ I Spy

Done and dusted! Or perhaps done and gifted is more accurate. This is the quilt I made for E1 for his fifth birthday. Where has the time gone?

I used pairs of 117 different prints so it could be a matching game as well as I Spy.

Sorry for the sideways pic here. I used these two panels on the back.

I hate Piecing quilt backs so you know I love my boy! The map is so he can see where all his family lives.

And here is a map to use with his little cars.

Here are pics from his party.

And all tucked in later that night.

I think he liked it! ❤️

Finish It Up Wednesday ~ T-Shirt Quilt

One of our pastors at church is leaving to plant a new church back in his home state of Texas.

So I made this quilt as a going away gift. At our church, if you are serving in any area on a Sunday, you wear a Lifechurch t- shirt. It helps identify at a glance to our visitors who is a vetted church worker. We get new shirts a couple times a year at least. So I gathered some shirts and made a quilt!

The back is actually a light gray.

I like to use a neutral solid for sashing and borders on t-shirt quilts.

Yes, he liked it!

We will miss him and his wife, but we send our love and support with them.

UFO Baby Quilt

This would be easier with more blocks, but I don’t have any more of this white.

Slow Stitching Sunday

I’ve continued stitching on this little experimental piece. Am I done yet?

Working on this gave me an idea of how I might improve my Mid Mod Beads quilt with similar stitching. Better?

Iceland Part 8

More Iceland! These photos were all taken around the Snaefellsness Peninsula.

The raw beauty of this country is incredible.

These stones were to test the strength of those wanting to work on the boats in times past. The heavier the stone you could lift, the more you got paid!
