Vintage Tops

I’ve been looking for another vintage top to hand quilt. I bought this one on eBay ages ago.

This one is similar, but the edges are hemmed and it shows a lot of wear. I have no idea where it came from. Perhaps it was used as a summer spread?

This one I bought at a yard sale decades ago.

Out of these three, I’m leaning toward the first one. But I may look at a few others in my collection before making a final decision.

Have a great day!

Another UFO

This is another UFO that I want to finish this year. These were leftover from this quilt.

I used these Accuquilt dies.

Though there were enough hexies for a baby quilt, I just needed to cut triangles.

Die cutting pieces means everything lines up so easily!

I add one triangle to opposite sides of the hexie.

And press like this.

I started throwing them up on the design wall.

I still love this. I might have to make it bigger. Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday ~ Gather

Little by little…

I’m starting to think about hand quilting this.

I have a little time to think about it yet.

Happy Sunday!

Dollhouse Chronicles ~ MCM

There was evidence that something was not right….

Clearly, the place had been ransacked.

Soon all was put to right and oddly, nothing appeared to have been taken.

However, the occupant appears to be suffering from a head injury and thinks it is the year 1920 and is dressing as such.

Hopefully, I will have some real progress to share next week. Have a good one and stay safe!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Vintage 4 Patches

I’m loving how this little bit turned out!

I probably should have done more hand quilting, but it works. So many lovely bits of vintage fabric to enjoy!

I’m going to be so sad when I use the last of this black and white print from my great Aunt Celia’s stash.

Now to decide where to put it. Have a great day!

This and That Thursday

I’ve got the first Quilt if Valor for the year loaded up.

I hope to get this done today and the next one loaded up for tomorrow.

With my little boys here last week, I got behind on lots of things. Especially since they ended the week with the stomach flu. Now I’m playing catch up. Cleaning and disinfecting everything.

Speaking of cleaning, Willy got a bath yesterday. He went from this:

To this:

Hubby says he looks like a miniature lamb. 😄

I’ve made some headway on my hand appliqué, doing a few leaves here and there.

Have a great day!

New Baby Quilt

I decided to keep this quilt simple and let the fabric do the work.

This fabric is from the J is for Jeep line by Riley Blake. This baby girl’s daddy is a big Jeeper so I’m very excited to make this for her. I used this die to cut the white alternate squares. The prints were one fourth of a layer cake so they were already cut to size.

I am very methodical about how I lay out and then pick up my pieces. I do it the same way every time no matter how many pieces. This pan holds all the pieces and they are ready for the machine. I always use pins placed this way to keep rows together. The pin is always at the top. This keeps me from rotating things.

One afternoon last week while E3 was sleeping, I got my rows sewn together.

While I was doing that, E1 played with the dollhouse.

E2 loves to play with my little bear and his bed.

This guy also loves my toy sewing machines.

And my collection of toy Jeeps is always popular.

We spent about 45 minutes in there and all three of us had fun!

Have a great day!

Gather

Progress! I made and appliqued vines to my top. This is how I did it.

First I cut one inch strips at an angle. It isn’t a true 45 degree bias, but it works.

Then I folded the two edges in so they overlapped and sewed a basting stitch down the middle.

This is what it looked like.

Then I played around until I was happy with the placement and glue basted it in place with Elmers School glue.

I used this die to cut shapes for leaves from freezer paper.

I ironed these onto the back of my fabric and basted the edges to prepare my leaves for applique.

I tried to do a few leaves here and there while the little boys were here last week. I’m pleased with my progress!

Have a great day!
