June/July Goals!

Time to check out those goals!

1. I really hope to get this huge quilt finished. Done!

2. Make one more kid quilt. Done!

3. Finish hand quilting my vintage top. Done! I will share the finish soon.

4. Quilt some QOVs! Not done. Our group is still not able to meet so I haven’t had tops to quilt. But, I did get a QOV started!

What else did I do? I made two minis.

And a pillow!

And I finished my Liberty quilt.

Not bad considering I traveled to AZ this month.

Now to consider July.

1. Finish the flag QOV.

2. Hand quilt half the hour glass quilt.

3. Finish another UFO from the list.

I have more traveling to do, so I’ll leave it at that. Have a great day!

DWMonday ~ Flag Quilt

Finally getting back to this. It seems an appropriate week to work on it!

I liked this gold for sashing, but then realized I didn’t have enough.

So on to Plan B.

Now I just have to get these four big pieces together and get this on the frame. That’s my plan for today.

BTW. This is the die I used to cut the sashing.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I started my new hand quilting project.

I’m using my Hera marker to mark the arcs. I love this thing! Hopefully, you can see the markings below. It is just a crease in the fabric.

This is what I’m using for thread.

So far, I like the back better than the front.

It IS very fast. Partly because I usually do twice as much quilting.

Hoping to finish the first side today. Have a great day!

Pinwheel Pillow

My pillow is done and I’m quite pleased with it! A big thanks to Deanna for the nudge. Here is the top after quilting.

This is the back. There is a zipper under that flap.

I stitched the front and back wrong sides together and added a binding.

Looks just like a small quilt!

Until you add the pillow form!

Here is a peek at the zipper.

I’m so glad I did this! It wasn’t as hard as I expected. Now to come up with a plan for that other pillow form.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Liberty Garden

Ta daaaaaa!!!

My Liberty quilt is done. I’m not normally a floral girl, but Liberty Tana Lawns are something else! And I love how well they paired with this Moda crossweave.

I found this backing fabric while thrifting with Daughter #3. It is a very fine shirting fabric.

I ended up with this almost teal binding. I loved the red and navy, but they seemed to demand too much attention.

I love how different areas appear to be in and out of focus.

Here it is in my sewing room.

Thanks for following along! Have a great weekend!

A Little Something

I mentioned that I found yet another UFO while digging through my 30s fabric .

Deanna suggested that I use them to make a pillow. I thought that was a great idea! In the process, I remembered why I set them aside in the first place. Can you tell?

At about the same time, I took a trip to TJMaxx and found this big pillow on clearance. It has a feather insert and this wasfar cheaper than buying just the insert.

I love a bargain! I quilted the top on the long arm. It took longer to load than to quilt.

Now to figure out how to put this together, have a great day!

Playing

I found these scraps while looking for something else and decided to play a bit.

I grabbed two strips and sewed them together.

Then I cut them in half and sewed them together again.

I have no idea if this is going anywhere, but I’ll forge ahead for now.

Have a great day!

Liberty Update

I decided to work on my Liberty quilt while pondering the big stitch quilting issue.

Ahhh….I love this so much! Now I’m trying to figure out what to use for a binding. I think it needs to be a solid. I’ve narrowed it down to one of these.

Decisions, decisions. Have a great day!

Big Stitch Quilting

I purchased this fun quilt top back in February. Since I finished quilting the last vintage top this weekend, I started thinking about doing this one next.

I’ve never done big stitch quilting with perle cotton, but I’m thinking of trying it out on this. I have this ball of vintage pearl cotton that I love.

Check out the price!

But this is all I have and I’m certain it isn’t enough. It may be too thick anyway. I’ve looked online and can’t seem to find any. Perhaps a solid color would be better on this busy top anyway. Looks like I will do a bit of shopping today. I plan to use this stencil, available from Fun with Barb.

First though, I’m off to Youtube to watch a few tutorials. Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I’m still hand quilting this vintage top. I have made progress, though it has been slow going.

You can see better on the back how much is done.

I’m probably 75% or more done.

I just love these huge fans! Have a great day!

HOLD THE PRESSES!

Just in, the quilting is finished and I hope to get the binding started today!

Wish me luck!
