Where did summer go? Is it really the end of August? Sigh…time keeps flying by.
My goals for August looked like this:
1. Finish the two batik baby quilts. Done!
2. Finish the tumbler quilt. Done!
3. Decide on and start my next hand quilting project. Done!
4. Organize my fabric enough to get it all put away. The piles are getting on my nerves! Not done! Sigh…..
What else did I do?
I made this little quilt.
And I hand quilted this little top given to me by a friend.
Two pin cushions.
And I finished a secret sewing project for Fat Quarter Shop that I’ll be sharing soon.
Oh, September, how bittersweet you are! I love you, but you always show up too soon. Anyway, this is what I’d like to accomplish this month:
1. Finish the churn dash quilt.
2. Get half of the flower garden quilt hand quilted.
3. Finish hand piecing the Liberty hexie pieces.
4. Tackle another item off the UFO list.

I’m still working on these Liberty Hexies here and there and I’m almost done making the….well…..I’m not really sure what to call this shape!
I put them up on the wall to take stock. I need to make one more dark one for the bottom right corner. And I have these left over.
I hate having leftovers! Anyway, I need to decide how to square this up. I might cut Hexies out of this gold floral that you can see in the center here.
I could piece the center and figure that out later. I do want to come up with a system so I keep my final layout from getting mixed up. I’ll have to think on that.

My finish this week was a surprise even to me! Tuesday when I checked my mail, I found a lovely little quilt top from a sweet, generous Instagram friend.
As you can see, I didn’t waste any time getting this basted for hand quilting!
I really enjoyed hand quilting this so I could take my time studying each lovely little scrap.
I just love this!
I had saved this piece of fabric for a long time. It was perfect for the backing of this little beauty.
I’m so thankful for all of the wonderful people that I have met online.

I ripped and trimmed and ended up with two pincushions.
I quilted both the front and back of each.
They measure about 4 by 6 inches, a much better size.
I am all about using what I have on hand so I filled these with rice.

I’m using this fabric kind for my secret sewing project. I never save selvedges, but it felt appropriate to make these into a pin cushion.
I slid my pieces back and forth until I was happy and then sliced off the extra.
I used scraps of the actual fabric and used a scrap of white for a foundation.
I used this thread because it was handy.
Then I just top stitched each piece down.
When I got to the end, I flipped and sewed another pink piece.
Now, wait a minute……now it seems way to big for a pin cushion!
So that’s epic fail for you! Hmmmm….to be continued…..I think…..maybe….

Last Thursday night, the mister and I decided to go camping on Friday. Friday morning, we decided to take E1 and E2 with us. Nothing like planning ahead, right? 
We found a campground with these cute little sleeping cabins. We took the boys offroad on one of my favorites trails. It was their first time wheeling.
Their reactions were hilarious!
E1: Yee haw! (Over and over)
E2: Please, Nana, don’t t turn the Jeep upstairs down!
Mr. Wonderful did all of the cooking.
We spent sone time at the beach on Lake Michigan. Daughter #3 and Son in Law met us there, making it even more fun!
I think we wore them out. I know I could sleep for a week! But first, I need to clean up the mess.

Here are a few more Walmart deals I picked up to play with.
I came up with a block idea and I used these dies .
I used a jelly roll strip to cut the squares and a matching charm square for the center of the block.
I cut triangles out of a light gray I had on hand.
I trimmed the block to 7 inches when I finished.
I rather like this small block. I think this could make a nice baby quilt.
