Remember these?
I’ve struggled to figure out what fabric to put with these that would work. I wanted a solid, but couldn’t find anything I was happy with. Then I found a yellow tone on tone print that reads as a solid from a distance.
Yep! That will do! I used these dies to cut out the rectangles and squares.
And I had to sew a few to see how it looked.
The sewn pieces shown above will finish at 3 by 9 inches.

I bought this sweet little Featherweight at a flea market when we lived in France over twenty years ago.
I call her Isadore after her one time owner who apparently took her on a transatlantic voyage!
She still sews beautifully after all these years.

One of my goals for this month was to get some projects kitted up. I had a fat eighth bundle of Blueberry Park and cut them up.
I got this ready a while back.
These are all 2 1/2 inch squares. The plan is to cut solid squares to go with so this is half done.
Leftover binding strips. These have all been pressed open and sorted into brights, repros, and neutrals. I have plans for these!
I have lots more to do, but this is a good start.

I was so happy to finish that last corner.
Not going to lie, trimming it was scary.
I made the binding out of yellow feed sack. I’m really looking forward to working on the hand stitching after church today!

I went home to visit my mom this past week. The drive was beautiful!
Of course I took the puppies with.
My mom asked me to put new sheets on the pull out couches for her. What did I find? The second quilt I ever made! Boy is it faded and ugly!
Yep, that date is 1988.
Just wow. I also found a baby quilt I made for a nephew now being used by a foster baby.
Not sure what I was thinking with those colors. Anyway, fun to see them still being used. Have a great day!
I finally decided on sashing fabric for my churn dash. Turns out, I didn’t have enough of either of my first two choices. So I pulled out these oldies from the Documentary line by Benartex. I think that came out back in the 90s!
This is the what I’m planning.
I used this die to cut my sashing.
Now I have this all kitted up and ready to go. Sadly, no time to work on it this week.

I finished taking this quilt apart. In the process, I found one piece that needed to be replaced.
I decided to applique a new piece over top rather than removing this. I thought I’d share how I did this. First, I placed a piece of printer paper on my wool mat.
I placed the top with the torn piece over top and stuck straight pins in around the edges of the piece.
This made holes in the paper.
Then I roughly connect the dots to make my pattern.
That should do nicely. The point on the original piece was blunted, so I will blunt the new piece as well.
Time to find an appropriate scrap to use and get it stitched in place.
I placed my paper pattern on my scrap and ironed the seam allowances over the edge of the paper.
Then I removed the paper and pinned my piece into place and appliqued it down.
The blue triangle here is slsd a replacement.
Time to get this basted!

I finished my little quilt from the Humble Quilts quilt along. Mine turned out humble indeed!
I used up bobbins that had very little thread left when I quilted this.
Washing made it crinkle up and helped to hide my many flaws.

This used to be my main machine quilting machine.
But I haven’t used it for that since I got my long arm. I decided to pull it out and give it a try on this little quilt from the quilt along.
Ummmmm…..
I can’t remember what walking foot I used to use! Why did I wait so long to look at the back? After ripping that all out, I tried another walking foot.
Oh bother!
Finally, that looks better.

I haven’t forgotten these! I just haven’t gotten around to doing anything with them. But I’ve started auditioning sashing fabrics. These two are front runners. The first is a Minnick and Simpson print.
This next one is French General.
I think I prefer the first, but I’m not sure I have enough. My original thought was to make all the sashings different, but I think having them the same pulls it together. I do like the lighter look.
