Junking

Hubby and I went bumming around last weekend and did a bit of junking along the way. I picked up this sweet little doll bed for a dollar at one garage sale we stopped at.

Of course, it didn’t look like that when I bought it. It looked like this.

It didn’t take much to get it back in shape.

It had this tag on it and I looked it up online. It originally was part of a little bunk bed set.

I found these at an estate sale. This is Catherineholm enamelware from the 1960s. I’ve only ever found one piece before so I was thrilled to find all of this!

I picked up this fun little letter board at our favorite discount store. I thought it would be fun to use for photos.

It was fun to spend the day with Mr, Wonderful driving around in the Jeep with the top down and no scheduling or agenda.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Black Diamonds Mini

This was a fun, easy finish after traveling.

The first two photos were taken before washing.

I hadn’t planned this, but it fits this doll bed perfectly.

This is how it looked after washing.

Have a great day!

More Tumbler Progress

I was in a real dilemma about how to proceed with this monstrous tumbler top. I finally decided a wack a strip off one side.

That left me with a top 100 inches square. That’s plenty big, but it just wanted a border.

So it got one. Just 4 1/2 inches, but now it feels right. I have this piece for backing, but of course, it isn’t wide enough. I’ll try to remedy that while I wait for the batting I ordered.

I never have 120 inch batting on hand, but I should probably start thinking about it.

Have a great day!

Vintage Quilts

Today I am sharing some more quilts I saw last weekend while out junking with the mister. None of these came home with me.

Mmm

This top was tempting.

It was foundation pieced.

I loved this one too. It was sewn yo a backing wth what felt like a blanket for batting, but it had no quilting.

Fun blocks!

These bow ties were only about two inches square!

Hope you enjoyed seeing these. Have a great day!

A New Old Quilt

Mr. Wonderful and I went to a few antique malls on Sunday and I found this! I just couldn’t leave it, even though I DO NOT need another quilt! And I rarely buy tied quilts. But the condition is so good and the fabrics so gorgeous….. It measures 78 by 66 inches and the triangles are 4 inches high.

Prepare for picture overload!

Many triangles were pieced.

Love this green!

The binding was pulled from the back and machine stitched down.

The workmanship is beautiful! Here is the back.

I’ve yet to find matching pieces, perhaps it is a true charm quilt?

So many fabrics that I would love to see reproduced!

I confess, I snipped a couple ties. I wanted to see if the holes would close. Yes, I’m thinking about hand quilting it!

For now, it is living on my guest bed. Have a great day!

Tumbler Progress

I’m glad I took this project with me to AZ. I only spent a few hours on it, but it was enough to get me going.

After being home a few days, I got back to it.

I sewed 25 rows of 36 tumblers and ended up with this monster.

It currently measures 106 wide by 100 long. This annoys me greatly. But do I want to add two more rows and borders? Sigh….

Time for a cup of coffee and a good think….

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I’m finishing up the binding on my little quilt today.

It shouldn’t take long. Then I’ll be back to working on my Liberty hexies.

Have a happy Sunday!

This and That

I came home from my trip to a wonderful package from Ila! She is so sweet. I can’t wait to try out these long arm rulers.

She also sent along this muslin.

And thread and bobbins! Thank you, Ila!

I picked up dog bandanas at the 99 Cent Store. When I opened them, I found this!

They also had this tie for Willy.

So what’s a quilter to do?

That’s better!

My grand dog Winnie has a donut toy that she loves. So when I saw this giant donut toy, I had to grab it for her. She loved it!

Winslow kept watch while I was gone.

Have a great weekend!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Batik Rectangles

I was starting to think I’d never see the end of the batik rectangles I cut from my stash! But I can happily say they are now ALL gone.

My machine binding isn’t my best work, I think I just wanted them done.

Here is the back.

Mmm

Here is the second one.

I really like the back better than the front! Thanks to all who encouraged me to do this.

I like that these two are similar and yet different.

They are the same size, 40 by 48 inches.

These will go into the donation pile. So glad they are done. Have a great day!

A Little Something

Sometimes it takes me a while to get back into the sewing room after a trip. So I decided to make something small. These are the dies I planned to use.

I say planned, because I didn’t need the HST one since I found enough already cut in my spare parts bins.

I did use the 2 x 4 inch parallelogram to cut black scraps.

Just 12 little blocks.

Time to decide on a border. I really like this claret.

Have a great day!
