I’m still quilting this vintage 30s hour glass top. It’s hard to find a good place to photograph it in progress. I don’t know if you can tell, but I start around the outside when I quilt fans and work my way in to the center. This is contrary to most advice, but I find that when I baste well on the long arm, I don’t have any problems doing it this way.

Perhaps you can see better on the back. You can tell I have help!

I just have a couple fans and the outside edge will be all done. At that point, I will have 52% of the quilting done. Yes, I calculated it. I’m a bit of a number nerd.

I love how the back looks.

But the texture is not as pronounced on the front. I’m used to quilting twice as close, so this is a bit of a let down for me.
