Hanging Quilts

I so appreciate all your lovely comments regarding my decorating with quilts post. I have company this week so again behind on comments, I thought I’d write a post to answer your questions.

First of all, there are no patterns available for any of the quilts I shared on Thursday. They are all original works of mine. The labyrinth quilt is based on the labyrinth in the floor of Chartres Cathedral in France. I used a bleach discharge technique to create it.

On to hanging!

I hung the quilts in my hall with these tiny brass pins.

They are about a half inch long. Because they are brass, they don’t rust with humidity. Since they are tiny, they don’t leave big holes in the walls. I believe I got these at Michael’s.

You can see here that they are hardly visible.

Have a great day!

Almost Finished Friday ~ Hourglasses

This is not exactly a finish, but it is a finished top!

The photo above shows the truest color. Here is a look at the whole thing.

I ended up with these two like pieces next to each other, but they are staying.

These pieces came from shirts belonging to my dad, my FIL, the mister, my son, and my sons in law. They are cotton, poly/cotton, poly, linen, etc.

I didn’t get super picky on my points matching. It will be a cuddle up and feel the love quilt.

Have a great day!

Decorating with Quilts

I brought some of my older quilts with me to Arizona. These are pieces I love, but never found a good place for in my Michigan house. So I turned my hallway into a gallery and hung them up!

Every bathroom needs a quilt, right?

I have more I’ll share soon. Have a great day!

A Plan

I decided to make these strips into blocks like this.

I think when they are done, I will set them with alternate plain blocks. I love making these. So simple. My strips are cut 2 inches wide. I sew a print and backgrounds strip together and then cut them into thirds.

These get sewn together.

Then sub cut into 2 inch segments and every other segment is flipped.

Sew them together and you’re done!

Here is how I press.

This means all seams nest nicely.

I think I have enough strips for 50 blocks. I better get to it!

Have a great day!

November/December Goals

Here are the goals I set for myself for November,

1. Arrive safely in Arizona. Done!

2. Acquire some furniture. Done!

3. Set up a new sewing space. It’s work in progress. 🤨

4. Start hand quilting my triangle quilt. Not done.

5. Finish piecing my churn dash top. Done!

What else did I do?

I made progress on my Liberty Hexies.

And started my hourglass quilt. Not much on the sewing front. For December:

1. I want to quilt and finish my churn dash quilt.

2. Finish Liberty Hexies.

3. Finish the Hour Glass quilt.

4. Finish my 36 patch quilt.

Is this realistic? Heck, no! But you just never know….

Have a good!

Another UFO

These strips were on my UFO list to finish this year.

The problem has been that I’m not sure what to do with them. Originally, I planned to make another quilt like this.

But this vintage quilt is also a possibility.

Either way, I’ve begun sewing print strips to back ground strips.

I just need to decide already. Hmmmm…..

I also wanted to give a big thanks to all that read my affiliate sales posts and shopped them this weekend. I so appreciate your support of my blog.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

Remember this? I got it all basted and brought it along to hand quilt.

But not a single stitch has happened. We will have company this week and I’d like to start this so I can quilt and visit. First, I need to decide how to quilt it.

Yep, I brought my fan stencil! But I only brought a small hoop.

So I’m trying to decide if there is a more efficient way to quilt this that won’t frustrate me with this small hoop. I really hope inspiration hits today so I can get started.

Have a great day!
