Finish It Up Friday ~ Postage Stamp

I love this fun quilt! I really wish I had cut two sets of the solid squares, because I already want to make another!

All fabric came from the stash, which meant piecing a backing.

The extra navy binding I made a while back was perfect for this.

It is so bright!

I love all the crazy, random fabrics.

I kinda wish I could keep it, but it will be a wedding gift for my nephew and his new wife.

The pantograph is Malachite from Urban Elementz.

Have a wonderful day!

Little Trip Around the World Finish

I love little quilts because they finish so quickly! I sat outside to bind this little beauty.

Ta daaa!

I love how the variegated perle cotton looks on the back.

Every piece in this little quilt is vintage except for the scrap of batting I used.

I love it on this doll bed.

Have a great day!

Kite Quilt

I’m working on something new! I love this die from Accuquilt !

I cut the background pieces from Kona White and the other bits came from my vintage stash.

See how the points are cut to make lining up the pieces easy? I love that!

I’m loving these so far! The blocks finish at 8 inches.

I think this will be a baby quilt. I have so many ideas in my head that I think I need to start making smaller quilts.

Have a great day!

Finished It Up ~ Jewel Box!

I promised I’d share my secret to easy on point settings, here it is!

This die was introduced at the Accuquilt launch party today, but as a GO! Getter, I was able to get my hands on it early.

I used it to cut the light blue setting triangles for my jewel box quilt, and it was so easy and accurate! I have the 8 inch setting die set so it works with 8 inch blocks. It included the side and corner triangles. No guesswork or sizing up and trimming down.

I don’t know where this green backing fabric came from, but it was in the stash and worked.

Now I want to set all my quilts on point!

I’d like to get the 4 and 6 inch setting dies as well.

Before I go, I wanted to let you know that you can get 25% off your total order at Accuquilt , today only, with the code LIVE25.

Have a great day!

A Little Trip Around the World

Someone I follow on Instagram decided to copy a small Trip Around the World quilt and invited others to follow along. Since I had these vintage solids already cut into squares, I decided to jump in!

It didn’t take long and I was ready to start piecing.

And then, quilting!

Since the joy is in the journey, I decided to hand quilt this with my variegated perle cotton.

Now, an episode or two of Monk and I should be ready to bind.

Have a great day!

New Hand Quilting Project

I decided to hand quilt this top next. I kept the fabric I was considering using for a border to use as a binding.

Once again, Baptist Fans! But you probably already guessed that.

It’s coming along nicely! These small tops go pretty fast. I think I’m halfway done with the quilting already. I’m using my big stencil from Fun with Barb.

Have a great day!

This and That

I recently participated in a doll quilt swap on Instagram. I received this gorgeous little quilt from Becky in Canada! I love it so much!

Monday was National Cactus Day and Jack bloomed on that very day. I’m glad he’s happy in our yard and thankful Daughter #2 was there to capture the magic.

I may have mentioned that I went home to help my mom get ready to move. Winslow loves her.

I had a great time with my older sister as well. We are posing with a statue of a Hodag . It is the official mascot of my home town. Click the link if you want to learn more about it.

I took this photo of the park in front of my mom’s new place. Love the tree shadow!

I ran into plenty of snow on the way home, along with rain, sleet, wind, and thunder storms. Typical Michigan weather.

E3 is growing so much! He’s learning to drive the little Jeep and just got his big boy bed. Time is flying by way too fast.

Have a great weekend!

Finish It Up Friday ~ In for a Penny

Even with totally reconstructing this, it still finished quickly. It’s small, only about 40 by 50 inches.

I used Quilter’s Dream batting and it drapes beautifully.

I really enjoyed quilting this. I was almost sad to see it done so soon.

I think the variegated thread adds a fun touch, along with the purple dyed feedsack bits.

This backing is from bloggy friend, Ila. I used the rest of this on another quilt you can see here.

It was pretty cold and dreary the day I took these photos. I hope it warms up soon!

Have a great day!
