My challenge quilt is done.

I’m not thrilled with the quilting. Red or black thread would have been better, but I used what I had on hand.

I do love the backing fabric. I used a facing instead of a binding for this one.

It ended up about 30 inches square. I learned a lot making this. I might just do it again!
Have a great day!
It’s been a good month sewing wise! Here are my finishes.

The next two were not finished in March, but the patterns that I created for them were released by AccuQuilt this month. That meant I could finally share these finishes!

I wonder what April will bring.
Have a great day!
Once I started working on this, I didn’t want to stop!

I got a small piece of this red and black fabric in a scrap bag and it set the course for the rest of the quilt.

I decided it would be the center and I would build it out Courthouse Steps style.

I’m loving it so far! Have a great day!
When my friend Zenia and I went to QuiltCon, we both loved this quilt.

We decided to make our own quilts inspired by this piece. It took me a long time to get started because I didn’t feel like I had quite the right scraps to work with. Then I went to a yard sale and picked up these.

Just what I needed to get inspired! I sorted the scraps by size.

They were a big too chunky so I randomly sliced them down the middle.

Once I had a pile, I started sewing them into twosies.

I stopped and pressed here because these were pretty skinny. I knew pressing here would make sewing these together easier.

I made long strips of random bits.

It’s a good start!
Have a great day!
I dug through all the fabric that I have here and came up with one strip of yellow. Not a perfect match by any stretch, but I decided it will do.

Now I’m auditioning borders. The pink strips I had originally planned to use seem too narrow to me.

I’m not sold on any of these. For a little quilt, this is taking an awfully long time.
Have a great day!
This is some REAL slow stitching!

It’s the only fan I have done so far! Here’s hoping I make some progress today.
And I had an “oops!” In my post yesterday! I mentioned a book and the photo didn’t post. Here it is.

Have a good one!
The cactuses that we planted last winter are all doing well. This one is starting to grow a new arm. a few others will be blooming soon.

Back in Michigan, Daughter #1 took E3 to the home center. He wanted to show me the cactuses they had there. 😊

Daughter #2 and I spent some time together in the sewing room last week making blankets for shower gifts for a friend of hers.

I picked up this stack of quilt blocks at a yard sale for a couple dollars.

I’m sure I can come up with a plan for these!
Also, here is another book I enjoyed. I’ve read about 35 books this winter. I do love a good book!
Have a great day!
Ta daaaaa!

Once the blocks were done, this was a pretty quick finish. I seem to gravitate toward these simple designs. Everything here came from my stash.

I think the binding fabric is rather ugly, but it worked well as a binding.

A simple solid worked for the backing.

The colors are a bit more true in this next photo.

And this is where it is living now, on the couch in my family room.

Have a great day!
…..I’ve started the quilting on my hour glass quilt!

I brought these design boards back from Michigan with me. I bought an adapter to use them on Harry.

It worked out pretty well. Here is a peek at the back.

I also finished up these placemats. I don’t use placemats, but these seem kind of small.

Back to quilting. Have a great day!
