This and That

My friend, Susan, sent me this book and I’ve enjoyed more than a few cups of coffee while poring over it! I can’t decide what to start on!

I had to laugh when I saw this shirt, it’s me! Lol

No affiliation, but wanted to share this deal. Oddly, the 120” wide batting roll is cheaper than the 90” wide roll on Walmart.com.

We spent lots of time with these crazy kids last weekend. They are so fun!

Willy was exhausted after!

I just finished reading this book. If you are a Laura fan, I recommend it. I have to say, I’m not a big fan of her daughter, Rose.

Finally, I have another post up on the AccuQuilt Blog.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Quilt of Valor

I started this quilt when I was still in Arizona. It was inspired by an antique quilt.

The block is quite simple.

I used shapes 1 and 2 from my AccuQuilt 8” Qube to make these simple 12” blocks.

The binding was made from leftovers of the backing.

As simple as it is, I’m quite smitten with this quilt!

I love it when the picture in your head becomes reality!

Have a great day!

Scrap Busting Again

My scrap buckets are starting to overflow, so it’s time to deal with them. I have two buckets, one for reproduction scraps, and one for modern/bright scraps. I was down to zero 2” cut squares in repro fabrics, so I decided to focus on that.

This is the die I’m using.

I can cut up to ten layers at a time with my AccuQuilt studio cutter and dies, so I could cut a max of 120 squares in a single pass!

Of course, I’m layering scraps so it doesn’t usually work out to that many each time. But I did make a lot of progress.

That bin is from this unit. I need to get my labels on!

My next task is cutting up these leftovers into 1 1/2” squares.

I’ll be using this die.

I came across these two big bins of white/off white scraps. They are a real mix of shades/manufacturers. Ugh. I don’t want to deal with these, but I hate having them go to waste.

I need to come up with a way to use these. Any ideas?

I’m back to cutting. Have a great day!

Moving Along

Remember these? I pieced these blocks before leaving AZ. My recent fabric haul from the estate sale provided the perfect sashing fabric.

It took a day to get the top together and then I loaded it on the frame.

This is the pantograph for it.

Have a great day!

Vintage Block Challenge Finish!

I took these blocks and scraps….

And turned them into this!

Such a fun little challenge!

I had some leftover vintage strips that I used for binding.

And I used part of a solid feed sack for the backing.

A perfect little summer quilt!

Lori will have a link up for the finishes tomorrow . So head over to Humble Quilts in the morning to see the other challenge quilts.

Have a great day!

Leader/Ender Update

I haven’t forgotten these! This is how much I had done when I left AZ.

I finally took the time to cut out more pieces.

This was going to be a small quilt, then a throw quilt, and now? I have no idea! The blocks will finish at 4 1/2 inches. I think I have enough pieces cut for at least 110 more bow ties.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ 4 Patch Strippie

This monster is finally done! It finished at 102”by 108”. Which makes it hard to get a good photo.

Really big quilts do add a degree of difficulty to a project, but it’s worth it.

So many fun scraps in this one!

The plain back shows off the quilting that took slightly less than an eternity to finish.

We are doing some remodeling in the bedrooms, so this is as close as I can come to a good full photo.

Have a great day!
