Terrific Tuesday!

Our bedroom repainting/recarpeting job is complete and the furniture is back in!

I finished this quilt in April. You can see that it is huge. It is so fun to finally put everything back.

This sweet boy spent the night.

Check this out! Margie shared with me this little Hattie’s Choice doll quilt she found on vacation.

Isn’t it darling?

I am getting some sewing in today. Yes, starting something new. I’ll share more about this soon.

It’s Christmas in July at AccuQuilt ! Click to register for this fun program that includes 2 new dies and special deals! You may even win a gift for yourself. 🎁

DWM Hatties Choice

Progress has been made, but I have quite a few blocks left to go. Meaning, I am not out of fabric yet. I have no idea yet how big this will end up.

I do have more pieces cut and ready.

I really like this purple. Maybe alternate blocks? Sashing?

I really love this block! If you want to make these, you are in luck! This die is currently on sale.

Click here and then go to Overstocks. There are plenty of other great deals there as well, but I can definitely recommend this one!

Back to work! Have a great day!

Slow Stitching?

I know, I shouldn’t be doing this….but I can’t get this lovely top off my mind. So I decided to baste it for hand quilting.

If you are basting a vintage quilt on a long arm, this glide foot is a game changer.

I’m using this vintage duvet cover for the backing.

My thought is to use the small Baptist Fan stencil. One fan fits in my 14” hoop. Can I limit myself to one fan per day?

I’m considering using this perle cotton and a big stitch.

It has the feel of a utility quilt, so it might work.

Have a great day!

Secret Sewing and Such

It has been a crazy, busy week here, with lots of secret sewing projects going on. I’ve got several AccuQuilt patterns in the works and a few I haven’t started yet. I can share a sneak peek of my fabric pull for one of them.

And this layer cake and jelly roll are for a Fat Quarter Shop project.

I got this new pantograph and used it on another secret sewing project.

My sweet sister gave me these sweet things! She’s so thoughtful. 😊

Have a great weekend!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Impossible

I decided to continue my little experiment and see if I could enhance the optical illusion with quilting.

The quilting is far from perfect. But I think I like it.

I grabbed a bit of an old yellow calico for the backing.

The next photo shows the quilting texture, which is both good and bad on a bit like this, every bobble and imperfection shows.

Amazing how difficult it is to get photos of this!

Have a great day!

Impossible?

Have you seen these little drawings that show impossible shapes?

I admit that I’ve always been fascinated by them. I found this one on Pinterest, and decided to see if I could translate it into fabric.

Don’t look too closely, I had other things I should have been doing, so this was a rush job.

It looks better from a distance. I think I’d like to explore this a bit more sometime.

Have a great day!

A New Old Quilt!

Mr. Wonderful found this quilt for me at the same sale I shared about yesterday.

I’m smitten! It is beautifully done. I love the pale peach background.

The quilting is beautiful!

Excuse my ugly thumb, I wanted you to see how tiny those stitches are.

I brought it back to Michigan with me. It’s too small for this bed, but I wanted to get abed shot.

I think this scratches the Double Wedding Ring itch for me. I don’t feel a need to make one myself.

Have a great day!

Fabric Shopping

My kind of fabric shopping! The mister and I hit a quilter’s garage sale.

The price was fill a bin for $10!

I have no idea how much I have here. And no, I didn’t buy it all! lots of older Moda here.

I also picked up this table for my Pfaff.

And Mr. Wonderful found this puzzle for me!

That was fun! Have a great day!

Hattie’s Choice

This is one of the new dies I recently bought. It was a last minute, throw it in the cart purchase. But it’s turning out to be a favorite.

I had a FQ bundle of Enchanted by Sarah Fielke sitting around for years. Time to chop it up!

Throw in a bit of Kona Snow and, voila!

I’m loving these! And I’m getting lots of ideas for other ways to use this die. These blocks come together so easily. I’m chuffed over each and every one!

Have a great day!

Sunrise

I got up really early one day last week and headed to the mountains.

I wanted to catch the sunrise and I was well rewarded.

There is nothing quite like the desert at the break of day. And the first hour after sunrise is deserving of the name, the golden hour.

I took this photo on my way home. It is an iconic stretch of road and was deserted at that time of day, allowing me to get a good shot.

Have a beautiful day!
