Finish It Up Friday ~ Tuppence Baby Quilt

This finish was as quick as I expected. I liked the design, but am underwhelmed by the fabric choices.

It seems that when working with a charm pack, I feel committed to using every piece and not adding any to it. This is not always the best course of action.

I should have eliminated some of the lighter squares and added more navy bits from my stash for better contrast. It’s okay, but it could have been better. Live and learn.

It finished at about 46 by 54. I used a pantograph from Willow Leaf Studio called Ink Blot. The backing is from the “way back stash.”

I would try this idea again. It was quick and easy, but I’d spend more time on fabric choices.

Have a great day!

Finally

Remember this? I had the top all pieced when I got home from Arizona in April. Except for the borders…..why do I procrastinate on borders?

Finally, I made myself put them on and get this monster loaded. Here is the pantograph I am using. It is from Willow Leaf Studio.

It’s slow going, but begun is half done! Right? Right? 😳

This is likely to be on the frame for a while, especially with the littles here this week.

Have a great day!

Work in Progress Wednesday

I have several irons in the fire this week. Progress has been made on the blocks for the baby quilt. I have more done than this now, but I thought I’d keep you all guessing.

I finished the last of the Hattie’s Choice blocks.

I thought about using the purple Kona for alternate plain blocks, but maybe sashing would be better.

I’m also thinking about making a little quilt using these dies from my AccuQuilt 5” Qube.

The three local littles will be here all day today and tomorrow, so I’m not sure how much more will get gone this week.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Tuesday!

Today, AccuQuilt is rereleasing the 5” Qube. I made this little bit to celebrate!

I’ve had my 5” Qube for a while and I love it. The smaller the pieces, the harder it is for me to cut accurately with a rotary cutter and ruler, so I love this.

Of course, I made this in red, white, and blue!

I used shapes 2, 4, and 8. The hourglass units in this little quilt finish at 2 1/2 inches.

You can learn more about the 5” Qube by joining in on the AccuQuilt Live program today.

Hope to see you there!

A New Baby Quilt

I need a quick project, so I grabbed this charm pack and the lovely pink Kona solid.

It didn’t take long to cut the block pieces with my AccuQuilt Studio Cutter. I love all my GO! Cutters, but my Studio was my first and remains my favorite. Ten layers at a time? Yes, please!

Now I’m ready for a good audio book and some sew time! Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

You knew I couldn’t just baste this and set it aside, right?

Quilting one fan a day is a struggle too. Here is a look at the back.

I decided to use this thread instead of the perle cotton. So far, I really like it.

This is a small quilt, about 63” square.

Have a great day!

In the Sewing Room

I spent much of this week with the grands. They take turns spending the night so they each get a night by themselves. It is great fun! After the last one went home, I headed to the sewing room. I have made more bow ties, in between other things.

I have a long way to go.

And this is where I’m at with my Hattie’s Choice blocks.

I ran out of the white pieces and now I have to figure out what I used. I thought it was Kona Snow, but it clearly wasn’t that!

Since I had extra room on the long arm when I quilted Impossible, I threw a FQ on and played with some free motion quilting.

Now, I’m not sure what to do with it. It’s an odd size for a pouch. what size do you find to be useful for zippered bags?

I’m having a hard time getting excited about any of these projects right now. Feels like a mid summer sewing slump.

Have a great day!

Flashback Friday?

I mentioned it has been a really busy week here, so here’s a lock back at this post from five years ago today. Enjoy!

July 22, 2017

I finished this quilt at the last second! It was too dark for photos outside when I finished the binding.

Here is a look at my allover freehand feathers.

And a look at the back.

Have a great day!

This and That

It’s been such a busy week, that I forgot to schedule my post for this morning! 276 days in a row posting and I broke my streak. Oh, well.

You have a few days left to get in on this deal from AccuQuilt . I may or may not have a package arriving tomorrow….

The hubs and I watched this the other night. Such a fantastic movie and a true story to boot!

I had to laugh when I saw this. 😂

Apparently, Willy is exhausted from this week as well.

Before I go, Fat Quarter Shop is having a massive clear out on quilt kits.

Back to secret sewing. Have a great day!

More Hattie’s Choice

I’ve been making blocks here and there in between other projects. I was asked how these blocks would look if all the floral fabrics were the same. Good question! This block has so many options. I used a collage app to make a couple mock ups.

That looks totally different! How about two alternating fabrics in the corners?

That’s cool too! This is what I love about this block. So many possibilities.

Back to work. Have a great day!
