Throwback Thursday

Here is another post from ten years ago. I was visiting Arizona at the time. This little quilt was made from a charm pack. You can click here to see how I made my little nine patches. Enjoy!

Here are pictures of my finished little 9 patch quilt.

I am quite pleased with how it turned out. I finished stitching the binding on the plane last Friday.

I can’t believe I have been here 6 days already! I miss my hubby and family back home but I am having so much fun with family here.

Here is a shot showing the back.

Tiny Nines

I’ve been neglecting these little bits, so it was time to get back to them.

I pieced all that I had made into rows. I have two more chunks like this pieced, but I can’t seem to find them. Ugh.

This may look like a jumbled mess, but it’s the next 50 or so little 9 patches all sorted and ready to sew.

It’s actually a really good RV project since it’s so tiny. The squares in the 9 patches finish at 1/2 inch.

Have a great day!

African Charms

I cut up a bunch of charms out of my African fabric stash last spring. I had a couple charm packs of solid black to pair with them.

And I’ve finally gotten around to sewing them!

The rows are all sewn, just double checking placement on my design bed.

Have a great day!

Half Hexies and a Helpful Hint

I bought this half hexie die from AccuQuilt a while back.

It is perfect for layer cakes and I had one in my stash here.

You can cut three layer cake squares at a time, folding them in half so you get six half hexies with each pass and very little waste.

I pitched the tiny strips, but the triangles are saved for a future project.

I’m not ready to piece this yet, it might be tough without a design wall. But I love having things kitted up and ready.

Now for the helpful hint! After posting this:

I received this comment from a lovely reader:

Who knew? Thanks for sharing!

Have a great day!

Family Time!

Daughter #1, SIL, and the three Es spent the day with us at the campground. We packed as much fun in as we could.

I think fishing was the best part. All three boys caught fish, but their Mama caught the most!

E3 enjoyed the worms. 😂

E1 helped cook.

We went on a hayride.

E3 thought he was big stuff sitting up on Oscar.

The zipline got a thumb’s up!

Lots of fun memories from this day. Have a good one!

This and That

I saw these at the local grocery store. Um….. no thanks.

After over 7 years, Oscar needs a new windshield. I’m so sad.

I feel like this is true…..

This is DEFINITELY true!

And before I go, Happy National Jelly Roll Day! Don’t have one? Click on over to Fat Quarter Shop and get one! Or more!

Have a great day!

Finally!

I did some serious sewing this week!

I’m so glad to be done making these blocks! I ended up with 97. It seems I lost a few pieces along the way.

I’m sure I’ll be excited about these again when I get back to my design wall.

For now, I’m happy to put them away.

Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday

I thought I’d look back to see just what I was working on ten years ago. I still love this little quilt! Enjoy!

I finished my little 4 patch quilt the other day. As you know, I had a terrible time deciding on a border fabric. As I was putting some fabrics away, I spied another choice altogether. This I could be happy with, not too light and not too dark.

The backing fabric came from a FQ that my hubby surprised me with on one of his shopping trips.

I am pleased with this quilting choice also. I actually used a rather bright green thread but it blended well with all the scraps. It gives texture without competing with the piecing.

All in all, a happy little quilt!

Sewing Outside

Working outside makes sewing boring log cabin blocks a bit more enjoyable.

In fact, sewing outside is really very nice!

I am up to 40 blocks now. 60 more to go.

Have a great day!

A Small Diversion

I cut these squares up back in June (maybe it was July?) when I was cleaning up from my little 9 patch quilt.

I wanted a quick little project so I started playing around with these squares.

I put these rows together and then got stuck trying to figure out background triangles.

I love these little vintage neon bits!

After some ripping and sewing, I had this fun little doll quilt top.

Maybe I’ll hand quilt this. Maybe.

Have a great day!
