October Wrap-Up

What a month it has been! Here are my finishes.

Not bad considering we also spent a good chunk of the month traveling.

The pattern I wrote for AccuQuilt for this quilt was also released this month. it uses a new die called Turkey and Giblets.

Have a great day!

Vintage Quilt Repair

Can you see my repair? It sticks out like a sore thumb.

This is a reminder of what it looked like to begin with.

I started by appliquéing a piece of fabric on the back. I can’t find my bin of feed sacks, so this older muslin had to do.

This is what it looked like from the front.

I tucked in a piece of cotton batting.

And appliquéd this piece over the top.

The next step was to try to replicate the quilting.

My stitches aren’t near as fine as the original, but I had many more layers to go through.

It’s far from perfect and clearly visible, but now it’s part of the quilt’s story.

Have a great day!

Hearts

I think I ended up with about 24 four inch hearts from my table runner.

I used this die from AccuQuilt to cut the hearts.

Then I add a ribbon and label and it’s ready to go!

I made a bunch of these last spring and left them here and there all summer. It’s just a fun little way to spread some smiles.

Monday, Monday

I finally loaded this table runner up and quilted it. I hate the quilting.

But the tension is great! I think I’m going to cut it up into hearts. I have no use for this table runner anyway.

I loaded up a good size piece of backing so I could quilt this as well.

I just have to decide how I want to quilt it.

Have a great day!

Slow Sunday Stitching

This lovely old quilt belongs to my sweet MIL.

Sadly, it has a hole. I told her I’d take it home and fix it for her. So this will be my slow stitching project for today.

I’ll share more when the repair is finished.

Have a great day!

This and That

My first jigsaw puzzle of the season is done!

I love this quote.

We had a small visitor to our yard.

Finish It Up Friday

My Two by Four quilt is finished.

Same backing as the quilts I shared on Sunday.

This binding was leftover from something else. I love when that happens!

It’s a simple quilt, but I think some kid will like it.

Have a great day!

Mama Mim’s Table Runner

Oh, I made this project so much more difficult than it should have been!

It’s far from perfect, but it’s done. Thankfully, I know my sweet Mother in Love is a woman full of grace.

This ended up half quilted on the long arm, and half on my Bernina. Can you tell which is which?

I’m very out of practice on the Bernina, but I didn’t have tension issues on it. Turns out my long arm tension issues were due to my ignorance in threading.

I have one other project I will be working on for her and I’ll share that soon.

Have a great day!

Re-Quilting

My sweet MIL pieced this beautiful table runner. She wasn’t happy with her machine quilting and I offered to quilt it for her.

I took it apart and loaded it up.

The stitching was beautiful!

Until it wasn’t. Did I mention I still have a lot to learn with this machine?

Time to rip….

Have a great day!

Duck Duck Jeep!

Did you guess?

In the last few years, Jeep owners have started “ducking” other Jeeps. It’s a way of saying, I love your ride! I’ve ducked other jeeps and Oscar has been ducked as well. But when I found out that AccuQuilt had a duck die, I decided to make my own!

I loaded up some yellow fabric to practice on with the new long arm. That was not by accident.

I used my practice bit to cut out quilted ducks.

I used an orange dot fabric with fusible on the back to make the wings and bills. There is an eye on the die, but I used a fabric marker to make the eyes instead.

I added a ribbon and now they are ready to go!

Have a great day!
