Design Wall Monday
Well, it is a day late but we are off on our adventure/family reunion. This is what I am taking to work on:

I purchased these fabrics in Amsterdam more than ten years ago.
Before we left, I did a quick clean up in the sewing room.

Progress!
Well, I finished my laundry, made my tomato juice, and finished most of my packing.

I decided to freeze the sauce since I didn’t have too many tomatoes yet.
Finally time to quilt! I wanted to use these templates I recently purchased from HQ:

I had planned to quilt a swag in the border but had a different idea at the last minute. I turned the templates upside down and overlapped them.

I did a simple loopy meander in the center with an occasional star thrown in.

I finished the quilt and trimmed it but will wait on the binding until we return from our trip.

A belated Frame Friday
Finally, after more than two weeks, I have something loaded on the frame!
It took longer than I thought to decide on borders:

In the end, I decided to go with simple.

Tomorrow hubby and I are heading out on vacation so today I must get ready. First on the agenda? Dealing with lots of these:

If I get enough work done today, I might get back to that quilt on the frame!

Oops….
I came home from work and got all my rows sewn together. Notice anything on the right side?

Productivity
Remember DWM and the QOV I had on the wall? Yeah, nothing happened with that yesterday. But I am okay with that. Better to have more things planned than not enough.
It also was a perfect set up for today. I had training for work this morning, then a two hour break before going back to work, lunch break, then back on desk from 5-9 tonight. Before I left, I threw dinner in the crockpot and threaded my machine. I laid out the pieces and got one row of tumblers pieced and pressed. During my break, I got two more rows pieced and all my pieces set out for my next piecing session. If I have 5 minutes during my lunch break (I come home for lunch), I can get another row done.

The key is to have things prepared so you can sit down and sew when you have a minute. People ask me how I get so much done and this is it!
Update: no sewing last night and had to run Daughter #3’s car to the shop this morning. As soon as I got home, I finished the rows. I have time to sew at least a few together before work today. I really want this top done by the end of the week!

A big finish!
Yesterday I worked on finishing swap blocks in between loads of laundry.

I work on them in batches of ten blocks.

This is what the whole pile of 60 blocks looks like! Before dinner, I ran out to buy a new Pigma pen to sign them.

I only needed one brown one but had to buy a whole set to get it. After dinner, Daughter #3 and I watched a few episodes of Duck Dynasty and I worked on signing them.

All120 blocks are ready to go! Today I will send them off on their way. Between training and regular work hours, I am not likely to get much else done.

Maybe after work I will find the energy to finish knitting this tiny sock…
I m linking up with Connie at Free Motion by the River for Linky Tuesday.

Until next time, have a fantastic day!

Design Wall Monday
I love DWM; it helps me focus and set goals for my week, not just for quilting but for chores around the house.

Above is the Quilt of Valor I intend to finish for August. I hope to make some progress on it today. However, I also need to keep working on these swap blocks.

I am dreaming of starting a new project though.

While working in the sewing room, I have been listening to this:

But life is not all about quilting. I did my 30 minutes on the treadmill, started laundry, and cleaned the kitchen. I also need to run a few errands after while and make dinner tonight.
I am linking up with Judy at Patchwork Times. Head on over for a wealth of inspiration!
Sunday
It has been a good weekend but it sure flew by! I got 10 more swap blocks done and the flying geese for another 10 ready to go.

Friday, Daughter #1 and I went to an estate sale. I bought some vintage linens.

Today we took her to IKEA so she could pick up stuff for her new house. Hubby found the toy section.

This and That Saturday
The flu has kept me from accomplishing much this week. I did get my 8 swap blocks done the other day but that is it sewing wise.
I did spend part of the day yesterday shopping with Daughter #1.

I love it when I get the chance to hang out with her!
And yesterday was my anniversary. My hubby brought home these:

Aren’t they beautiful? He’s a keeper! We also went out to dinner and then enjoyed an evening by the fire. I am so thankful that God put us together. Our 27 years have been filled with ups and downs but there isn’t anyone I would rather share the journey with.
And because every quilting blog needs quilt pictures, here is a small quilt I made several years ago. Lately, I have been using it on my kitchen table. The fabrics are all reproduction prints and the squares measure 1″ finished. It looks a little wonky to me, might have been a PMS quilt. Regardless, I like it. Reminds me that things don’t have to be perfect to have value.

Looks like a beautiful day today!
This is the day The Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Ps. 118:24
