100 Quilts for Kids

Katie Blakesly at Swim, Bike, Quilt is having her 100 Quilts for Kids event again this year. The idea is to get 100 quilts made and donated for kids in need. You can make and donate a quilt and then link up with her here.

Here are the two quilts that I made this summer and donated last night to our local shelter via my local quilt guild, Piecemakers.

Work in Progress Wednesday and a Finish

Yesterday I finished the last QBB quilt for this batch. Now I just need to find a box to ship them back.

And my WIP? Trying to decide what to do with these lovely fabrics from Benartex called Silk Road.

I need to make a thank you gift for a lovely couple and I think I will use these. Now to come up with a clever pattern!

Just another Manic Monday…

Still working away on QBBs. The seventh top is in the frame. This one has foundation pieced blocks with muslin foundations. I am just quilting meander so I can avoid hitting thick seams with my machine.

I got another one bound this morning.

Yeah, I know my spine is off on the feather. My goal for the day is to finish quilting and binding the one in the frame and get another loaded. I want to have all ten ready to ship back on Friday.

In other big news:

My new washer finally arrived! Which means I am also trying to get caught up on mountains of laundry.
Better get back to it! Happy Monday!

Sunday Stitching

I had a bit of time before heading out the door for church. It is amazing what you can get done in a few minutes here and there! Here is the quilt I am working on:

We are supposed to go to a ball game this afternoon but may get rained out. If so, I might get this finished today.

Off to church!

Moving Day!

No, not for me. Dear Daughter #1 and Dears SIL made the move yesterday and that meant lots of packing, loading, and unloading and unpacking! We almost got it all moved but have plenty of unpacking left to do.

Isn’t it a grand old house?

I am tired and sore today! I work at the library this afternoon. That seems like a vacation right now.

All went well and I am so happy for them.

The colors are really off in the full view shot. I free handed a swirl and feather pattern. It really went fast!

Have a great day everyone!

Never forget….

This is the quilt I made in the days following September 11th, 2001.

20130911-092435.jpg

20130911-092445.jpg

20130911-092500.jpg
In the red stripes, I have quilted 2 Chronicles 7:14 which says:

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Our rallying cry since that fateful day has been, “Never, ever forget.”

Today, my heart is heavy. There are those in our government, along with our president, who would have us side with rebels in Syria against the government there. These rebels are linked with Al Quaeda, the very same group that attacked our nation 12 years ago today.

There are many reasons that I feel these strikes are wrong. But today, the very thought of this crushes me.

To align ourselves with Al Quaeda, in any way, is utterly appalling. It is an affront to all those who lost their lives that day. to those in our military that sacrificed everything fighting against these terrorists. It is reason enough to stay out of this conflict.

As a nation, we must never forget.

Mr. President, Senate, Congress, have you forgotten?

Work in Progress Wednesday

This is what I am working on today. It is another top for QBB.

20130911-080327.jpg
I did a bit of thrifting with my girls this week. Here is what I found.

Love this! It is probably a bit heavy for a quilt but I am sure I will find a use for it.
