I decided it was time to take down the Valentine quilts ( yes, really) and put up a few red, white, and blue quilts.

Not a great photo, but it’s the first time hanging this in my front hall.

This one isn’t patriotic, but I’m not ready to put it away yet. It seems good advice for our times.

As soon as I folded this red string quilt, Willy decided to upchuck on it. Did I ever mention that I make quilts to be used? This one has been washed a gazillion times already.

This quilt has gone so quickly, that I forgot to take many photos along the way.

I wanted to clarify a few things. This is a single “block.” It is just a 5 inch square sewn to a 5 by 10 inch rectangle.

I pressed all seams away from the white.

Ta daaa! It’s already on the frame!

I pulled this layer cake out to use for one of the kid quilts I want to make this month. I bought this on a Cyber Monday sale back when Bluprint was still Craftsy. I liked it better back then. I didn’t renew my subscription this year.

I like the range of color in this.

And here is how I am making one of the quickest quilts ever! I cut my layer cake in half and I cut one 5 by 5 square of white for every rectangle.

Here is my layout, minus the white squares which will go in the spaces. I didn’t use the entire layer cake, but you could if you wanted a bigger quilt.

Here’s a tip: keep all the same white fabric together in a bin so you don’t have to sort it out later. This is all Lily and Loom Brilliant White. Scraps, yardage, it all lives here.

Here are my rows sewn together and turned sideways. This will be done in no time. It will finish at 63 by 70.

I’ve got a bit of binding going on today.

And then I’ll move on to some more quilting on this.

I had hoped to have that third side done by today. Oh well, no deadline on this one.

I knew I was going to need binding for an upcoming quilt and I made enough for two quilts at the same time. Someday, I’m going to be really happy with myself for doing this.

I found this little pillow the other day. My son made it for me when he was little. It looks like a lifted Jeep!

I’m a terrible cook, but my daughters are all amazing chefs! Daughter #1 shared this recipe the other day.

These beautiful roses from my son are still looking wonderful!

I’m still doing some sorting here and there in the sewing room. I finally labeled the containers that needed them. Such a little thing, why did I wait so long?

And I finished another puzzle. It’s called 100 Dogs and a Cat.

Mr. Wonderful set up a dog grooming station for me in the garage.

At least they can see now.

I finally got more interfacing. A generous friend had a bolt she said I could use and repay her later. But I didn’t want to use it in case I was unable to find any to replace it. I was finally able to get some from JoAnns so I didn’t have to use hers.

I still need to add borders. I’ll use this navy and the gray is for the backing.

This is a big one!

I hope to get the borders on and get this loaded today.

Barb at Fun with Barb has been making some lovely string quilts. I was quite taken with her Butterscotch and Blue and thought I’d dig through some scraps to make a mini version.

I ended up with these three strips. I could have made more, but I didn’t feel Ike I had enough variety without cutting into fat quarters and such. I was playing hooky from the t-shirt quilt as it was!

I tried a few different backgrounds.

I’m going to go work on the t-shirt quilt while I think about it.
