As many of you know, I am an affiliate for a few companies. That means if you purchase an item from them after clicking on one of my links, I make a small commission. It doesn’t cost you any more, but it helps me to offset the cost of keeping this blog. It isn’t cheap due to the large amount of storage required to write every day for over ten, no, eleven years!

I would never represent a product or company that I am not sold on myself. I will be sharing a few more posts over the next few days to let you know about some other great sales coming up. and I’ll be shopping too. 😄 Thanks so much for your support!

Have a great day!

Thankful

It goes without saying that this past year has been rough for everyone. And yet there is still so very much to be thankful for.

God is still good, very good. Today I will spend Thanksgiving with our Arizona kids. I’m so very thankful to be able to spend time with them here.

And I’m thankful for all of you that I have come to know through this World Wide Web.

Thank you for visiting, for sharing, for encouraging.

Have a wonderful day!

Liberty Hexies

I found a couple things that might work for the background of my Liberty Hexies.

I’m leaning toward the red for an outside border.

I kind of like the green, but the cream gives more contrast.

I’ve been considering hand appliqué to attach the Hexies to the background. Not sure about that yet.

Have a great day!

Hour Glass Blocks

Finally a bit more sewing on these blocks cut from men’s shirts.

They have widely varied fabric content which adds an element of difficulty to the sewing. But the shirts have a lot of sentimental value. I placed the blocks I had finished on the wall so the length and width is shown.

This keeps me motivated as I can see exactly how much is left to do.

I’d forgotten how much I enjoy using my Singer 301! Willy seems to get into every photo I take.

Silly pup. Have a great day!

Design Wall Monday

These are my design walls! Also know as the great Before.

Hubby and I spent much of the weekend working on landscape stuff. Digging holes in Arizona clay is not for the faint of heart. The mister worked his heart out.

We got six of thirteen plants in the ground. In Michigan, it would have taken a couple hours to plant all 13.

This will be next. It’s a Mexican Fan Palm.

This is the current plan.

I tamed the prickly pear cactus out front. It needs a bit more, but I need some recovery time before I tackle it again.

Perhaps it tamed me. I’m not really sure who won the battle. The agave got worked on as well. One part was growing sideways into the cactus and that part got removed. I think we may add a golden barrel cactus in the right front corner. This is what they look like.

If you ever thought I was a gardener, you would be way off base. But apparently, cacti thrive on neglect. So once this is all in, it should be perfect for me!

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I finally got a lamp in the family room that I can stitch by in the evenings. Thanks, Good Will!

Now this should finish up quickly. I had planned to use this gold and white for the background.

But I’m rethinking that decision. I tried this too.

I think it needs to be a solid. I sure am glad I didn’t cut the Hexies already. I’m trying not to buy anything, but my stash here is limited so this will take some thinking.

Have a great day!

This and That

Thanks to all of your great suggestions, I got my quilt hung up!

Willy was admiring it.

I had to show you this cake that Daughter #2 made for Daughter in Love.

We needed a new doorbell. Hubby found this for me. I love it!

The second hand furnishing continues. I picked these items up at garage sales.

And Mr. Wonderful is still cooking for me. Yum!

It has been cool enough to enjoy our fireplace a few nights.

I’m not sewing much yet. But I’m very much enjoying Arizona right now!

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Churn Dash

No, this isn’t it, but doesn’t my Gwennie Medallion fit our full size guest bed perfectly?

I put my church dash top on the bed and this is why I had to rip. It was too long and narrow.

After rearranging the rows, adding a few blocks and the borders, this is how it fits.

It is Willy approved!

It is a bit unusual for me to make a quilt this light, but I’m really loving it.

It will really come to life when it gets quilted!

My first “finish” since we arrived! Have a great day!

A Change of Plans

Remember I said I wasn’t sure about the proportions of the churn dash quilt? Yeah….

I spent a lot of time with the seam ripper yesterday. But I just wouldn’t have been happy. I removed a row from one end, made two more blocks and added it to the side. Since I pieced my rows lengthwise to begin with, this ended up being more work than it sounds. Anyway, I had some triangle paper on hand and used that to make the two extra blocks I needed.

I had never used these before and they worked out quite well. The accuracy was spot on.

Now I can get back to borders so I can show a finished top on Friday.

Have a great day!
