Another New Old Project.

The other kit my sweet mom in law brought back to me, was a tumbler lap quilt. She had started piecing this one.

These were cut from the same fabrics as the table runner I showed yesterday.

I should have this top pieced and ready for quilting by tomorrow. Btw, the pieces were cut with my 4 inch tumbler studio die.

Have a great day!

A New Old Project

Way back when, I made a quilt for my sweet mom in law. A while later, I kitted up the leftovers into a couple projects for her. She makes the most beautiful bags, but never got around to the kits. So she brought them back to me when she visited us last week.

These were intended to become a table runner.

This was the perfect project yesterday when my head was tired from comparing solar quotes and I just wanted to sew. I didn’t lay anything out. Before long, I had the runner pieced.

The colors are much prettier than this photo shows. I took it after dark. I’ll try to get another photo in natural daylight.

Have a great day!

This and That

That could describe most of my days! Mr. Wonderful requested a quilt to hang on the wall in his office to reduce the echo. I asked if he wanted something mild or wild. He said, “I chose you, didn’t I?” Wild it is!

I worked on my blocks yesterday.

Then I walked to Daughter #2’s house with the pups. They are getting to know her dogs.

My order of Kona White came. This is what 30 yards looks like.

I did a bit of Christmas decorating in the yard.

Little by Little

Our company left early yesterday. After laundry and mopping, I sewed a few blocks.

I’m thinking about putting solid squares in between the pieces blocks. Perhaps blue or yellow. I have pieces sitting ready so I can get going earlier tomorrow.

The boys were here over the weekend. I loved finding this on my wall this morning!

Progress

I’ve so enjoyed time with family this past week. I made a bit of progress on my current projects just before they arrived. I added the border to my Hexie top.

And I have more 36 patch blocks done.

And I’ll finish this post with a few photos of my Arizona boys.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I finally started hand quilting my vintage top.

It’s hard to see what I’m doing, but it is parallel lines in large triangles. This fits my hoop and I don’t have to mark anything.

You can see a bit better on the back. I’m not sure it is enough quilting, I may have to go back and double up.

Have a great day!

Hanging Quilts

I so appreciate all your lovely comments regarding my decorating with quilts post. I have company this week so again behind on comments, I thought I’d write a post to answer your questions.

First of all, there are no patterns available for any of the quilts I shared on Thursday. They are all original works of mine. The labyrinth quilt is based on the labyrinth in the floor of Chartres Cathedral in France. I used a bleach discharge technique to create it.

On to hanging!

I hung the quilts in my hall with these tiny brass pins.

They are about a half inch long. Because they are brass, they don’t rust with humidity. Since they are tiny, they don’t leave big holes in the walls. I believe I got these at Michael’s.

You can see here that they are hardly visible.

Almost Finished Friday ~ Hourglasses

This is not exactly a finish, but it is a finished top!

The photo above shows the truest color. Here is a look at the whole thing.

I ended up with these two like pieces next to each other, but they are staying.

These pieces came from shirts belonging to my dad, my FIL, the mister, my son, and my sons in law. They are cotton, poly/cotton, poly, linen, etc.

I didn’t get super picky on my points matching. It will be a cuddle up and feel the love quilt.

Have a great day!

Decorating with Quilts

I brought some of my older quilts with me to Arizona. These are pieces I love, but never found a good place for in my Michigan house. So I turned my hallway into a gallery and hung them up!

Every bathroom needs a quilt, right?

I have more I’ll share soon. Have a great day!

A Plan

I decided to make these strips into blocks like this.

I think when they are done, I will set them with alternate plain blocks. I love making these. So simple. My strips are cut 2 inches wide. I sew a print and backgrounds strip together and then cut them into thirds.

These get sewn together.

Then sub cut into 2 inch segments and every other segment is flipped.

Sew them together and you’re done!

Here is how I press.

This means all seams nest nicely.

I think I have enough strips for 50 blocks. I better get to it!

Have a great day!
