I flew back to Michigan the last week in February to see the family there. I took this top with me.
I knew I had this perfect backing fabric from dear Ila.
I ended up not working on this while I was there, but I’ll get back to it when I am home for the summer.
All three of the E’s got their turn to sleep over at Nana’s.
This little guy was pretty proud of his new Harley jacket.
I looked out the window one day and saw this.
Nine deer in my backyard! We live in a subdivision! There is a patch of woods behind the houses across the street from us and a patch behind our house. We occasionally see deer run through our yard from one patch to the other, but I’ve never see this many at once.
I only used half of this jelly roll for my Orange Craze quilt. I couldn’t leave half of a jelly roll hanging around, so it was imperative that I find a project to use it up!
This is where I’m headed.
I start by sewing a solid orange and jelly roll strip together.
Then I fold in half and use my rotary cutter to trim off the very edge of the fold.
Sew the resulting two pieces together.
And repeat!
Time for a bit more exacting cuts. I grabbed my 3” strip die to get these.
I sew these three pieces end to end and one row is done. Easy peasy!
AccuQuilt has released a new die! I was super excited to try this out.
It took no time at all to cut the pieces I needed.
First you piece the fan blades together.
Then you add the little quarter circle piece. These photos show my first time piecing this block. See the little notches? You can pin at the notches to keep everything perfectly aligned.
Sewing that part seemed scary, but it worked out just fine. Next, line up the outer piece, pin, and stitch.
Not bad for my very first block!
For the next block, I skipped the pins altogether. I lined up the pieces at the beginning of the curve and took a few stitches.
Then I lined up the first notches and continued stitching.
When I got to the first notches, I lined up the next set.
I actually had better success without pins and it was much faster!
There are so many layout options with this block. Here are a few.
I’ve been waiting for this day! AccuQuilt is launching a new die! I’ve had my hands on it for a while now. Click here to register for today’s AccuQuilt Live program to see what it is! Then head back over here to see what I did with it.
