Ugh!

After a wonderful , but busy weekend, I headed down to the sewing room late yesterday. I decided to tackle this bin of 1930-40s scraps.

I had an idea in mind for these. I grabbed these dies and started cutting.

These scraps were leftovers from someone’s Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt and many pieces look like Swiss cheese.

So I spent a short forever pressing and cutting.

And then, it hit me. I was cutting pieces for the wrong quilt. I need 4” and 2” finished squares.

🤦🏻‍♀️

These could work, but throws the scale off completely. It is NOT what I wanted.

This totally took the wind from my sails.

I know, I can still use these and it is not time wasted, but it wasn’t what I wanted. For now, I’m putting this bin back in the closet.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

…..of the knitting kind….

I finished the scarf for E3 so I tookE1 and E2 yarn shopping. This is what they chose.

E1s scarf is done.

This last one is coming along. I am knitting this one with the skein shown above together with a skein of plain black. Two strands means bigger needles, fewer stitches, and a faster finish.

Here is E3s scarf.

Nothing all that special, but Mama said he wouldn’t take it off.

I’m counting that as a win!

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Mario and the Piranha Plant

Drum roll please…….

Ta daaaaaaa!!!

I’m so glad I finished these in time! I kept the quilting very simple. I think the grid enhances the pixel theme.

I used a sheet set for the backings.

I found cross stitch patterns on Pinterest that I used to make these. The squares all finish at 2 inches.

The sheet set came with pillowcases, perfect for gift bags!

I can’t wait to give these to E1 and E2!

Have a great day!

Jack and Friends

This quilt has a name! It is for E3 so it had to have Jack on it. This scene is not even close to realistic., but I couldn’t have black cacti on a quilt for Little Man.

After piecing the background and cutting out the cacti, I glued them down.

This is what I used. And in case you were wondering, yes, I am winging this thing! I just knew I didn’t want this much fusible in the quilt, making it stiff.

Then I loaded it up on the long arm. The plan is to appliqué and quilt at the same time. I sure hope this works!

I made the moon bigger and I used mono-poly thread to go around the edges. This is all I have done so far.

I have another trick up my sleeve yet. Let’s hope the joke’s not on me.

Have a great day!

Wait!!! I almost forgot to tell you about the AccuQuilt Live event today! Click here to register to win prizes.

Arizona Quilt

I have one more Christmas quilt to make and it is for my cactus obsessed boy, E3.

I had a half yard bundle of ombré fabrics I bought when Craftsy sold fabrics. They were my starting point for the background.

I probably should have eliminated more of the lighter parts, but I needed every inch to make it big enough. I thought I’d do silhouettes of cacti.

But I didn’t think E would like black cacti, so I decided to use this green instead. Obviously, this is not an accurate rendition.

It needed mountains in the background.

Nothing is sewn yet and I have no idea how to put this together. Wish me luck!

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I’m knitting again! Just a simple scarf, but an important one.

I went shopping at Hobby Lobby with Daughter #1 and E3 the other day. We walked through the yarn aisle and E3 grabbed a skein and said, “Mommy! We can make a scarf! “

Mommy said, “I don’t know how to make a scarf.”

E3 responds, “Nana does! She would LOVE to make me a scarf.”

Well, of course, I would!

He was a bit disappointed that I only had an inch or so done when he left that day, but I’m sending him progress reports.

This is the yarn he chose.

I better get knitting!

Have a great day!
