I picked up a quilt kit at a sale recently. I didn’t actually know what was in the box when I bought it, but I liked the fabric. This picture was included. I think it might have been from a shop hop.
These are the pieces that were completed.
I also have quite a few scraps.
And some yardage.
I’m hoping I can make a Quilt of Valor out of this. It will take some thinking.
I decided to make some little 9 patches for another doll quilt. I thought I’d share my method with you. It works for any size strips, but I used strips cut 2” wide. And yes, I used my AccuQuilt die cutter.
I cut three light and three dark strips and stitched them together into sets as shown.
Press seams toward the dark.
Layer one of each strip set, right sides together. The seams nest nicely!
Then lay them back on the strip die used to cut the strips to begin with. I used a silver sharpie to add lines that are 90 degrees to the blades. This ensures square cuts. The GO! Dies already have these markings. This is a die for my Studio Cutter.
Ta daaa! All cut and ready to sew!
I didn’t care that I had a mixture of light/dark patches, but you could do all of one or all of the other, keeping in mind that you will need twice as many of one of the strip sets.
Easy peasy! BTW, these will finish at 4.5 inches. It’s a perfect size to alternate with charm squares.
I used up most of the scrap bin I pulled out on these little doll quilt tops.
I have a little bit left, but I’ll have to add more stash to the mix. I hope to get a few more done and quilt them all at the same time on the long arm.
My blog readers are just the best! Jan left me a comment last week about doll quilts for Christmas boxes. Yes! That was just the inspiration I needed to find my mojo.
I’m using some leftovers that have been in this bin for years.
I’ve decided to use my AccuQuilt 5” Qube and just play. I’ll see how many doll quilts I can make before before I run out of fabric or get tired of working with them.
I received this little die cutter from AccuQuilt for a project I was working on for them. I never expected that I would use it SO much. But I really do. If I’m using a die that fits (and most dies do), this is what I grab.
These are the dies I’m using for this first doll quilt.
I’m ready to sew….and really excited about it! Doll quilts like this that are made to be used by little girls…what could be more fun?
BTW, right now the AccuQuilt GO! Me starter set is on sale for only $89.99!
Also, I wanted to let you know that Connecting Threads has a great sale on precuts!
Don’t forget to use the promo code PRECUTS20 at checkout!
I’ve read some good books lately. If you read, Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate, you will enjoy this.
I’m not sure how to classify this next novel. It is unlike any other I’ve read, but I enjoyed it very much. Just a good story.
I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read by this next author. Actually, I’m not sure that is the correct word for this book. It was riveting, sad, ultimately…..not quite triumphant…. Perhaps, satisfying?
This next one was a suggested title when a book I tried to download was unavailable. I loved it!
This is not a book, but a TV series on Amazon Prime.
Oh my goodness! The mister and I loved this! I just found out there will be a second season. I won’t miss it. It’s hard to find good TV shows and this exceeded my expectations.
