Impossible?

Have you seen these little drawings that show impossible shapes?

I admit that I’ve always been fascinated by them. I found this one on Pinterest, and decided to see if I could translate it into fabric.

Don’t look too closely, I had other things I should have been doing, so this was a rush job.

It looks better from a distance. I think I’d like to explore this a bit more sometime.

Have a great day!

A New Old Quilt!

Mr. Wonderful found this quilt for me at the same sale I shared about yesterday.

I’m smitten! It is beautifully done. I love the pale peach background.

The quilting is beautiful!

Excuse my ugly thumb, I wanted you to see how tiny those stitches are.

I brought it back to Michigan with me. It’s too small for this bed, but I wanted to get abed shot.

I think this scratches the Double Wedding Ring itch for me. I don’t feel a need to make one myself.

Have a great day!

Fabric Shopping

My kind of fabric shopping! The mister and I hit a quilter’s garage sale.

The price was fill a bin for $10!

I have no idea how much I have here. And no, I didn’t buy it all! lots of older Moda here.

I also picked up this table for my Pfaff.

And Mr. Wonderful found this puzzle for me!

That was fun! Have a great day!

Hattie’s Choice

This is one of the new dies I recently bought. It was a last minute, throw it in the cart purchase. But it’s turning out to be a favorite.

I had a FQ bundle of Enchanted by Sarah Fielke sitting around for years. Time to chop it up!

Throw in a bit of Kona Snow and, voila!

I’m loving these! And I’m getting lots of ideas for other ways to use this die. These blocks come together so easily. I’m chuffed over each and every one!

Have a great day!

Sunrise

I got up really early one day last week and headed to the mountains.

I wanted to catch the sunrise and I was well rewarded.

There is nothing quite like the desert at the break of day. And the first hour after sunrise is deserving of the name, the golden hour.

I took this photo on my way home. It is an iconic stretch of road and was deserted at that time of day, allowing me to get a good shot.

Have a beautiful day!

This and That

I know, I know….I wasn’t going to knit anymore. But what’s a girl to do when she finds this yumminess at Goodwill?

My soon to be son in law was working in Winslow, Arizona last week and picked up this little shot glass for me. 😊 This tiny dog looks like my Winslow who is named after the town. They just go together!

And if you were wondering where that Quilt of Valor ended up, it went to the same future son in law.

My cactus bloomed again while I was here! It is so beautiful!

One more finished puzzle!

Not much sewing this week, maybe next week. We’ve been enjoying the sun, time with good friends, and family.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Lemoyne Stars

I finished my Lemoyne Star quilt. A few of you suggested the on point setting and after playing around with that, I ended up with this strippie.

I absolutely love this AccuQuilt die. It is well engineered and goes together perfectly.

I’m not in love with the quilt as a whole. That’s okay. You learn with every quilt.

Here is a look at the backing.

And binding.

This is the pantograph I used. I used a new to me monofilament thread and I really struggled with it. No doubt, that influences my feelings about the whole thing. I’m not sure what the thread is, it came with this long arm.

I’m not sure where this will end up. Time will tell.

But it isn’t in the keeper pile.

Have a great day!

Surprise!

That’s the essence of my week!

Mr. Wonderful showed up in AZ to surprise me! We’ve been having a wonderful time.

So I decided to surprise a few other people by making more quilted hearts to leave here and there for others to find.

I loaded up some bits and pieces and quilted them up. Then I cut out my hearts with pinking shears, added hanging loops and labels.

Then the fun of leaving them for others to find begins.

Hope you find some sweet surprises today!

Christmas in July Part 2

There is a reason this is called Christmas in July… but first. Here are the diamond units I made from my AccuQuilt Storm at Sea die.

I’m not big on holiday fabrics, but I had a piece of this cute Santa hat print. I put simple squares in the corners and, voila! A simple Christmas table runner!

You could use a print for any holiday!

I could make a bunch of these, but I have other ideas to try.

Have a great day!

Christmas in July

This AccuQuilt die has been on my wish list for a while, but not because I wanted to make a Storm at Sea quilt.

I saw border possibilities with this die. So I got cutting.

These are the pieces for the diamond sections. Those nipped corners are game changers.

I have so many ideas for this unit! Stayed tuned for part 2.

Have a great day!
