Throwback Thursday ~ Panel Quilts

Lori at Humble Quilts is hosting a panel challenge. The idea is to come up with a creative way to incorporate a panel into a quilt. I still haven’t started! But here are a few I’ve done in the past.

This first one was awarded as a Quilt of Valor. The panel has the Declaration of Independence on it.

The blocks in this one were from a block exchange hosted by Barb at Fun with Barb. The panel shows Civil War Union Generals.

Here we have Grant and Lee appearing together. I call this the Get Along quilt.

I better get going through my panels and come up with a plan.

Have a great day!

Monkey Wrench Blocks

Even though these blocks were hand pieced, it still took forever to take them all apart. But they are finally done. I have recut them to a smaller size.

I used these dies from my AccuQuilt 4” Qube.

I just place the pieces on the die and run them through!

Aaaaaahhh! That’s more like it. It makes this OCD heart so very happy!

After recutting all the pieces for one block, they get clipped together again. I’m surprised how often I use these little clips!

And here is the first block, it will finish at 5”.

It would have taken less time to just cut new fabric, but I think this honors the maker while creating blocks that can actually be used. The variety of sizes to begin with, meant no chance that they would have fit together.

Have a great day!

Kite Blocks

It didn’t take long at all to piece these little blocks.

I played around a bit with setting ideas.

But nothing really clicked.

Then I remembered these blocks from the Ladies Aid BOM that I did last year. Hmmmm….

Definitely needs a colored sashing if I do this.

That is really wide sashing. But I think I like it.

I’m going to think on this a while.

Have a great day!

A Little Something New

I was in the mood for a mini! So I grabbed these AccuQuilt dies and some scraps.

I cut enough pieces for six blocks, but I might make more.

Here is one block. It finishes at 5 inches.

I’m not entirely sure where this is headed yet. I need to play some more.

Have a great day!

Slow Unstitching Sunday

I’ve had these blocks for some time. I take them out every now and again, trying to figure out what to do with them. You can see how much they vary in size.

I finally have a plan. But it requires lots of unsewing.

As each block gets unstitched, de-threaded, and pressed, the pieces get clipped together. I want to keep the pieces from each original block together.

I have everything I need in this vintage enamel pan, so I can visit with family or watch TV while I work on this.

Have a great day!

This and That

It’s good to be back in cactus country! And my lovely cactus are thriving.

This made me laugh way too hard.

I have my puzzle spot set up.

And we are waiting for the rest of the family to fly in.

Let the wedding fun begin!

September Wrap-Up

It seems to have been a month for minis! First, I finished this Temecula Quilt Company QAL.

I also finished this red, white, and blue Bow Tie.

Six little doll quilts.

And this wasn’t really finished in September, but that is when I got to share this secret sewing project for Fat Quarter Shop .

Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday ~ Bow Ties

I started wondering just how many Bow Tie quilts I’ve actually made. That sure sent me down a rabbit hole! I know of at least four more that are not pictured here. Enjoy!

Apparently I don’t have a full size photo of this next one and it doesn’t live here anymore.

I think I need to remake this next one soon.

So it looks like the one I’ve just started will be number eighteen.

Have a great day!

Welcome QAL Progress

I knew the next few weeks would be busy, so I did a bit of prep work for the quilt along. I decided to make a bunch of four patches, since there are quite a few of those in the quilt.

I also made a bunch of HSTs that will be needed.

I put all these in a little bin so they don’t get lost.

Have a great day!
