Bow Tie Blocks

Remember when I cut these blocks out?

I finally started working on them.

These are 6” blocks and are so easy to piece.

One would think this would be farther along by now. But progress is still progress.

Have a great day!

Leader/Ender Update

I started this leader/ ender project a month or so ago. This was my inspiration.

I’m using squares that finish at 1 1/2” and I’m going with rows of 8 instead of four.

Have to have my notes to keep track!

I still haven’t decided if my strips will be like this….

Or this….

I should start thinking about that.

Before I go, Fat Quarter Shop is starting Black Friday deals early this year.

And it is not too late to register for today’s <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="http://Register now for Nov 15 Online Event + Two New Dies Launch and Bundles! Special intro pricing (while supplies last).” target=”_blank”>AccuQuilt Live event.

Have a great day!

Couching Experiment

I told my husband I wanted to try out couching. He said I was already pretty good at it. 🙄

Anyway, I got these couching feet for my long arm a few years ago.

I used some cheap muslin and a batting scrap and quilted a grid for a base.

There are video tutorials on couching and I watched a few before starting. Then I grabbed some cheap acrylic yarn.

Hmmm…..I need practice, but I can see the potential here.

Filling in that cactus took a while. My barrel cactus just looks like a ball of yarn. 😂

This is what the back looks like.

I forgot an apostrophe. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Oh, well. Next I decided to see what would happen after a trip through the wash.

I was worried about distortion, but it seemed to come out okay.

I’ll definitely be playing with this some more soon.

Have a great day!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I haven’t forgotten this!

I did set it aside for quite a while, but I’m back to it.

I press after each row that I add.

I found part of a layer cake and I think I will cut some more pieces from it for this.

These are the dies I use.

I think I want this to be a good throw size. I should probably make more “blocks” like this and then piece those together at the end. This is getting a bit unwieldy.

Have a great day!

This and That

I loved this book so much, I had a copy sent to my mom.

My sweet AZ neighbor sent me these photos of one of our cactuses blooming! It’s so pretty!

I always feel like somebody’s watching me 🎵🎶….

Peeps are cute, but disgusting. These are probably worst than most. Who thought this was a good idea?

In case you were wondering, Oscar is still around. Though he’s felt a bit neglected since the Harley came along.

I changed the quilt on my bed. I love the texture in the morning light.

Have a great day!

Finish It Up Friday ~ Confetti

Gosh, this was fun!

Ahhhh… my favorite quilt hanging tree isn’t working so well since most of the leaves fell!

Anyway, here is a full shot.

I had just enough of this perfect fabric in my stash to back it.

The quilting is a simple pantograph called, John’s Puzzle Meander.

The binding is leftover from a couple other quilts.

I definitely want to play with this idea some more, though probably in a two color quilt.

Before I go, I wanted to let you know about this deal from Connecting Threads .

The deal only lasts until midnight tonight. Happy shopping!

Have a great day!

Mario and the Piranha Plant

Much sewing has been happening around here! Mario is all pieced.

Well, all except for some plain borders.

Now I’m working on a top for E2. He wanted the Piranha plant from the Mario game. It is half pieced.

I found Mario sheets to use for the backing of these quilts. Hopefully I can get the plant top finished today and Mario loaded on the long arm tomorrow.

Have a great day!

Mario

I finally started my Christmas sewing. I wanted it done by Thanksgiving and just realized that is only two weeks away.

I’m on a mission to knock out this top, this week. I’m using 2 1/2” squares and a cross stitch pattern to make this.

Because this boy needs a Mario quilt.

It looks so much better after sewing.

Back to sewing! Have a great day !

Wait!!! I nearly forgot! The Quilt Keeper currently has a $10 rebate if you purchase the three pack! These are awesome for yourself or to give as a gift.

Strings

About a week ago, I came across this string bin. Ugh. I nearly emptied the whole thing in the trash.

Then I decided to piece some together. I have no real plan here.

Finding strips of similar size was frustrating. So I started pressing and sorting.

This took forever!

But it was helpful. I started sewing similar size strips together.

I still have many strips left to sew and no idea what I’ll do with these panels.

Have a great day!

Welcome QAL

This is where I was when you saw this last.

I’ve left this up on the design wall trying to decide where to go from here. I started thinking about using alternate blocks.

Maybe a plain border, instead of the pieced one in the original.

Blue?

Maybe this?

Thinking, thinking, thinking….

Have a great day!
